There is no certainty if a gap of 4 years between BTech and MTech will affect placements in any way because it all depends on what you did during the gap. If you were working, then your experience will have neither a positive effect nor a negative effect as the recruiters come with fixed roles and packages and it’s not MBA so the gap does not really matter for them.
Before joining MTech you can analyze what the current job will give you in 2 years in comparison to the MTech degree. Only then make a sound decision. All in all, you will require more than normal efforts to get into MTech.
Some points pertaining to MTech in general and its placements specifically are mentioned below:
To make the most out of your MTech degree, you have to invest maximum effort and then reap the benefits.
No, IIT Delhi does not provide MA in English. Some other IITs do provide humanities programs, for instance, IIT Madras offers 5-year integrated MA courses in English as well as in Development Studies. Admission to these courses is done through an entrance test called HSEE.
Other IITs have their own net above tests for the specific humanities programs offered and details can be sought from the official website of respective colleges. Additionally, some IITs also offer Ph.D. programs in different humanities disciplines including English literature.
I can attest to the fact that Engineering Physics at IIT Delhi and IIT Madras is the perfect blend of Physics and Electrical Engineering one could ask for.
You can opt for both physics as well as electrical courses as your electives. Your final year project can be in any one of these departments and you are free to choose provided that there is a good balance between science, mathematics, and engineering.
Most students of Electrical Physics eventually go for Electrical as you design your course instead of getting stuck on a mandatory curriculum.
At IIT Delhi, there is more focus on Physics than Electrical and for those interested in the same, this course is bliss.
My friend completed her M.Tech in Telecommunication Technology and Management from IIT Delhi and also did some extra courses in Computer Technology from Electrical Department.
These courses usually cover Software related topics with very less focus on mathematical analytics and circuit design. Students from Instrumentation backgrounds expect Analytics and Design but the reality is IIT Delhi has very limited choices in this field. Most of the optional courses offered are related to CS and are much more promising than Analytics. If you are okay with programming, coding, and software development then go for it at once.
Rest assured, you will never get to doubt the packages offered during the placements of Computer Technology. It has the highest packages among all the Electrical Department branches.
You get what you seek, hence the more you are willing to get, the more opportunities you will have to explore other branches of IIT Delhi.
Both Mechanical and CSE are good branches and offer ample placement opportunities. In this case, you should choose between the colleges.
IIT Delhi is one of the top Engineering colleges in India. They have the finest faculty, and IITD alumni have the highest number of unicorns in India. With an IIT tag, you can easily grab a job in top MNCs. Being an IITian opens great opportunities for you to pursue your higher studies at US/European Universities.
IIT Delhi Placements are top-notch. Even its Mechanical branch records an average salary close to 12 LPA. Several Finance, IT, and non-IT MNCs are open for every branch during placement season at IIT Delhi. So, you can switch to an IT career later on. For UPSC/GATE aspirants, Delhi is the ideal location.
CSE is a more in-demand branch at present. However, IIT Delhi offers much more opportunities to its students than NIT Surathkal. Therefore, I would suggest you choose ME at IITD rather than CSE at NIT Surathkal.
Choosing IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation) is better than choosing IIT BHU CS as:-
IIT Delhi has produced many successful entrepreneurs who have founded a wide range of companies and startups. Some of the notable companies founded by IIT Delhi alumni include:
IIT Delhi is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutions in India. Its brand name will significantly improve your employment prospects after graduation. Moreover, the ‘IIT’ tag will be beneficial if you apply for higher education in foreign universities in the near future.
The Chemical Engineering program at IIT Delhi is known for its rigorous curriculum.
The department has state-of-the-art facilities and top industry collaborations. This allows the students to gain excellent research exposure. Moreover, the placements at IIT Delhi are better than those at IIT Indore due to the former’s strong industry connections.
Chemical Engineering graduates from IIT Delhi find job opportunities in diverse sectors including petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, environmental engineering, and even in finance and consulting. IIT Delhi's vast and influential alumni network can be invaluable for your career growth.
Here’s a comparison between IIT Delhi and IIT Indore for your reference:

IIT Delhi enjoys the reputation of being an IIT that offers the best city life experience. The campus is always lively with future entrepreneurs roaming around with splendid ideas.
Its lavish location is another added advantage being surrounded by NIFT, JNU, Hauz Khas, and other lounges. Students prefer spending their evenings in clubs to release stress. It is also in close proximity to Gurgaon, the IT mushroom of the country adding to the overall exposure and internship opportunities provided to the students.
IIT Delhi has some great tourist spots like Manali, Punjab, Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Thungnath.
Inside the campus, you will find a rich startup and coding culture with very few students inclined towards Civil Services.
Honestly, I feel your branch has less to do with the opportunities and exposure and your college has more to do with it. So choose wisely or go for IIT Delhi and you will never regret it!
Admission to the MSc Cognitive Science program by IIT Delhi is based on scores in any of the following national-level entrance exams:
