Course Details:

BITS Pilani:

• It offers B.E.(Hons) in Computer Science and provides its students with an updated and industry-related curriculum.

• The CS department of BITS Pilani is in association with the MSDN and hence students are free to use the most advanced and updated tools.

• There are currently 350 students and 10 faculty members in the C.S. department. BITS Pilani has faculties from reputed institutions like IITs, IISc, and its sister branches in India, all of whom have a Ph.D. or are in the process of getting one.

Manipal University:

The university offers BTech in Computer Science, and here too the course curriculum is in tune with the current needs of the industry. The labs and classrooms are of top quality as well.

Admission:

BITS Pilani:

• Students must score 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics combined and 50% in each subject in their 10+2 in order to seek admission.

• Students must have 61 points in TOEFL and 5.0 in IELTS (not required if the student is from English medium school).

Manipal University:

• Students must secure 50% in Physics, Math, English, and Chemistry/ Biology.

Scope

• CSE has more job opportunities in the market as compared to other branches of engineering. 
• If you even go for a core organization in the chemical field; the highest package is not more than 6 LPA. 
• In the case of CSE, if you are into coding a good package can be cracked.
• The highest package is close to 1.40 crore in BITS Goa. The average also stands at a decent place. 
• The prominent recruiters are - ADM Argo, Adobe, Bajaj Auto, Capgemini, CGI, Cisco, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Razor Pay, Reliance Jio, Freshworks and Goldman Sachs.

Faculty

• The computer science faculty cannot be compared with chemical engineering. 
• CS faculty is amazing having well-equipped knowledge in the field to deal with real competition. They all are efficient in imparting real practical skill set to their students in a proper manner.

Campus

• Goa is a place people look out for holidays, and having a college in Goa makes it even more fascinating and attractive.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS),Goa, has been ranked 17 among the top engineering colleges in India by NIRF. It is a relatively new college. PES University

• The maximum Package offered in Kongu Engineering College is 50 LPA and an average package of 5.5 LPA.
• Some of the companies that visited the college are Amazon, Cleartrip, Flipkart, JP Morgan, LinkedIn, Intel, Mahindra Rise, Mercedes Benz, and Deloitte.

BITS has a stellar reputation amongst the top engineering colleges in the country. Though students must analyse all factors keenly before choosing a given course in a particular college.

Of all the core engineering branches, the Electrical Engineering department at IIT Bhubaneswar saw a 100% placement rate in 2020. The ECE program at BITS Goa began in 2019 and had a placement rate of 80%.

• The Goa location makes BITS Goa a popular choice for students.
• Meritorious students applying to BITS Goa, receive 10%-25% scholarships for a single semester.
• There are 28 faculty members in total, divided between departments at BITS Goa. The Electrical Engineering department at IIT Bhubaneswar has 19-20 Ph.D. holding faculty members. Both institutes receive faculty from abroad.
• IIT Bhubaneswar saw a placement package spike of 13.4% from 2019's INR 11 LPA to 2020's INR 15.8 LPA. The highest CTC offered in 2020 was 43.4 LPA and major recruiters were PSU's like Oil India Limited, HPCL, etc and MNCs like TCS R and D, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, etc.

A total of 89 companies visited IIT Bhubaneswar in 2020 with 51% recruitment for core engineering industries through companies like L & T Construction, Tata Steel, and Renault Nissan; the data for the ECE program at BITS Goa is low due to the fact that the first placements are still being conducted.

BITS Pilani, ranked 30th by NIRF amongst top engineering colleges in India, is very well renowned for electrical engineering and is also considered to be the best private institution. While IIT Tirupati was recently established and hasn’t been ranked yet by NIRF.

ADMISSIONS:

BITS Pilani

• For BE, a student must have 10+2 with 75%. For ME, a degree in BE/BTech with at least 60%.
• The entrance exam BITSAT is for BE Hons candidates whereas BITS HD for ME candidates.

IIT Tirupati

• A student must have 10+2 with 75%, to be eligible for BTech.
• For MTech, IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8/10 or above can apply with valid GATE scores.

BITS Pilani is considered to be a premier engineering institute and EEE students have higher opportunities and lucrative offers compared to civil at the present time. IIT Tirupati being a newly established college has still to offer a lot more facilities in the coming years. Hence, it is up to the individual to make an informed choice.

Here is a comparative analysis of both colleges.

• According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework ranking, an apex framework that ranks the colleges, institutes, and universities, BITS Goa is ranked in 25th place while IIT Bhubaneshwar has secured 17th rank.
• Talking about the Placement Percentage of both colleges, both BITS Goa and IIT Bhubneshwar has got a 100% placement rate for CSE and Mechanical Engineering, respectively.
• Comparing the salary packages, an IIT Bhubaneshwar alumnus gets an average CTC of INR 11.4 lakh per annum while an alumnus of BITS Goa has the average CTC of INR 22,27477 lakh per annum.
• The infrastructure, faculty, and curriculum of both colleges are quite supportive of the respective courses. The fee structure, however, differs. The total fees that the candidate has to give as tuition fees during the four years of B.Tech CSE in BITS Goa is INR 16.73 lakh whereas IIT Bhubaneshwar’s B.Tech Mechanical course takes INR 11.20 lakh during the four years.

Concluding, BITS Goa CSE seems to be a better option than IIT Bhubaneshwar Mechanical, in terms of overall reputation, placement rate, and average CTC. BITS Goa, however, has a higher fee structure than IIT Bhubaneshwar, but better CTC compensates it quite well.
