Admission for Ph.D. programs at Amity University campuses is conducted twice a year i.e. for January and July sessions. A Ph.D. program is offered in two modes- full time(3 years) and part-time (4.5 years). There is no distance learning for Ph.D. courses in Amity and maximum duration in the case of both the modes is 6 years. Eligible students are selected based on their performance on PET( Ph.D Entrance Test) which is followed by a personal interview.

Doing a Ph.D. from Amity University is highly expensive compared to other government colleges.

• For Full-Time Ph.D. Fee is Rs 50,000 per semester
• For Part TIme Ph.D. Fee is Rs 33,500 per semester

The University encourages interdisciplinary research and exchange of ideas and knowledge in various related fields. Furthermore, it allows scholars to appoint a Co-Guide from outside Amity University as per university rules.

Although, if we compare, PhDs offered by Amity University are not at par with government universities. PhDs in private universities are rated lower than those of government universities.

MBA in International Business is offered by Amity International Business School(AIBS), Noida which is affiliated to Amity University, Noida. It is approved by AICTE and UGC and also credited grade “A” by NAAC. MBA in international business is a 2-year long course and the course structure includes the study of foreign language, foreign trade policy and export management.

Amity University Noida offers good placement for MBA courses. The highest salary package offered is Rs 20 Lakhs per annum, while the average salary package offered is around Rs 4.5 Lakhs per annum. Top recruiters are Amazon, Blue Star, Philips, Panasonic, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, etc. About 40 percent of students were offered both paid and unpaid internships from companies such as Panasonic, Jaro Education, Blue Star, etc.

Students are employed in both public sector and private sector organizations. One could also opt to work in both domestic and foreign MNC in international business division, import and export department, shipping or airline sections in global logistic companies, global tourism sectors, international consultancy firms, and international courier companies. The job posts that are offered to the students include Project Manager, International Logistics Manager, International Finance Manager, Export Managers, Accounts Manager, Investment Banking Manager

One of my friends suggested that Btech in biotechnology is much better than Bsc in Biotechnology at Amity University Noida Campus. It is one of the best branches in the area. The campus is really good, you will get a lot of labs to work on. 

The faculties and professors are highly qualified and friendly as well. It totally depends on you as in how much you can take and learn from this college campus. If you are a bright student then you will gain a lot of knowledge and may get placed in good company while if you are an average student then you will have to work really hard to get the best opportunity. Although the faculties are very good you will get a lot of help from them.

Now coming to the placement part it has been suggested by my friend that Btech get good placements in comparison to Bsc students. The reason being they place Bsc students in some BPO companies while Btech students get better opportunities. But the placements are not 100% core placements. This means that you might also get placed in sales and marketing jobs as well depending upon your candidature. The college conducts campus placements for few IT companies only. It depends upon your capability and how you grab the opportunity fast.

For those who don’t get placements should always try for better internships. You can also start preparing for exams like GRE and GATE for further studies and trying for good companies. As a proactive student you should always try for various options as if you wait for 4 years and at the end you don’t get placed then you might be disappointed. You can also go for Msc in Biotechnology after completing Bsc in order to get good placements.

Hearing from students studying in Amity University, Noida, I have come across many dissatisfied students who claimed to receive a poor quality of media education. There are certain reasons that make Amity University not a good option for journalism. These may include a poor faculty to bad placements. 

The faculty of Journalism at Amity University is not up to the mark. The teachers are not very much experienced, though there may be some exceptions. But overall the faculty is weaker than other colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune).

Their course curriculum is outdated and is mostly theory based. Whereas Journalism is considered to be a more practical subject, students at Amity focus more on Theory-based education than practicals. Even if the student pursues advertising or television production, they are made to focus on theories rather than practicals.

If you really want to study journalism at a professional level, you should consider colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune), which are proven to be better institutes than Amity University, Noida.

Both Amity University, Noida, and Sharda University offer several different options when considering a B. Tech degree at either institute. Students can choose from options like Computer Science and Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology and many more at either institutes.

Finally, when comparing placements and academics, here are some points that may offer some clarity:

Academics:

Amity University:

• The college focuses on industry interaction, exposing students to industry experiences as well as conducting research when it comes to academics.

• At UG as well as PG levels, students are expected to engage in internships and take up projects.

• Students are taught to apply scientific, engineering as well as research knowledge in order to provide solutions.

Sharda University:

• Academics related to B. Tech at Sharda University are concerned with innovative education and discovery as well as knowledge.

• It focuses on students obtaining practical knowledge in different areas of engineering as well as forming cross functional relationships.

• Students are expected to bag internships in the final year of their program as well as have various industry centric programs throughout the course with highly experienced faculty.

Eligibility:

• Amity University: 10+2 with 60% and Amity JEE.

• Sharda University: SUAT or JEE or UPSEE with 60% marks in 10+2 PCM or 50% marks in Math.

Placements:

Amity University:

• The institute has established ‘Amity Technical Placement Centre’ in order to help students get placed in various organizations.

• The highest package offered is of INR 36 lakhs per annum.

• Some of the top recruiters visiting the institute for B. Tech placements include Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, Samsung, IBM among others.

Sharda University:

• About 91% of B. Tech students are placed every year from the institute with a total of 150+ MNCs visiting the institute every year.

• Many of these MNCs have set up their Centers of Excellence on campus with some of these technology partners being Siemens, IBM, KPMG, MTNL, Tech Mahindra, etc.

• The highest package offered at the institute is INR 65 lakhs per annum for engineering students.

Students can also consider other aspects like campus, fees and other criteria before making a decision on where to seek admission.

Amity University has a good coding and research culture. The faculty members are extremely helpful and friendly, especially if you are genuine and hardworking. There are a lot of opportunities and facilities for coding and research at the college at your disposal if you are planning to give it a chance. 

Faculty:

The teachers are helpful and friendly but also intolerant if you don’t take research work assigned to you seriously. Amity professors are strict and don’t appreciate students who show up only to take credit for group/research projects so the general advice would be to work hard if you want to impress your professors.

Research Culture:

Amity University is a great place for research considering the University has filed out the largest number of patents in our country. The college actively encourages research and provides incentives so if your aim is to establish a career in research then this place might be for you.
