Nirma University (NU) situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade private university. Overall, Nirma University offers 61 courses in 11 streams in various fields. The admission process for each course is different. As the preferred stream and course are not mentioned here, the generic information about the admission process of all courses is mentioned below.

Nirma University offers admission in categories, namely, All India, Gujarat State, NRI, PIO & Foreign Nationals (FN), and Children of Indian workers of Gulf Countries & South East Asia. Nirma University conducts its private entrance exam and also accepts the scores of several competitive exams like JEE Main, UCEED, IPMAT, CLAT, GATE, GPAT, etc.

The courses and accepted exams for the same are mentioned below.

  • BTech admission is through JEE Main & GUJCET. For BA-LLB/ BCom-LLB, CLAT scores are considered. BArch and BPharm admission is based on ACPC scores. For BArch, the institute also considers NATA scores. BCom admissions are merit-based.

  • For admission to medical courses like MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BHMS, NEET UG scores are considered.

  • Form MTech and MPharm GATE and GPAT examination scores are accepted. For MSc courses, the institute conducts a written test.

  • LLM admissions are done through PG CLAT or ILNU Test.

  • Ph.D. candidates are required to go through the Written Test + Interview conducted by the institute.

Nirma University, DDIT, Nadiad, and SRM, AP are private institutions of the country. While all are approved by UGC, DDIT is also recognized by AICTE. Nirma University and DDIT are graded ‘A’ and ‘B++’ by NAAC, respectively.

The only differences between general and NRI seats are the fee and application process, for both DDIT and SRM AP.

It’s difficult to determine which institute is better as the courses are not mentioned for the given college. However, given below are information about the colleges which may help you make the decision.

Ranking:

  • Nirma University: The college was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the country by NIRF in the academic year 2018. 
  • Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: The college was ranked as 251 in top B. tech college in India by NIRF in the year 2019.

Admissions: 

  • Nirma University: For admissions, the criteria for every course is different. But mostly the college accepts common exams like JEE Mains, CLAT, GATE, CAT and MAT. 
  • Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: For a student to be eligible for a course they need at least secure 45% of marks in 10+2 exams (science stream) with any recognized board. The college accepts GUCET marks for the B.Tech program.

NMIMS Mukesh Patel School

Manipal University is better. It is well-known on national level and has a good brand presence. In terms of academics, placements, exposure, and student crowd, it offers better opportunities.

Nirma University provides a 4-year classroom program for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering. It costs around 7.24 lakhs and the student intake for the program is 120.

  • The required eligibility is 45% in the 12th board with the science stream from any recognized university.

While the PDPU has been accredited with an “A” grade by the NAAC with CGPA 3.39/4.0. Both the institute offers BTech programs in chemical engineering.
