Yes, two-year droppers can apply for NSIT/DTU. NSIT and DTU take admission through JEE Mains. JEE doesn’t have any age restrictions or rules regarding drop years.
Students can attempt JEE six times, over the period of 3 years after their 12th. So, you will find students in NSIT and DTU, who took 2 drop years for their JEE preparation.
Here is a short review of each of the aforementioned colleges
Here is what you should prefer for individual branches
CSE |
IIITD > NSUT Delhi > DTU |
IT |
NSUT Delhi > DTU > IIIT Delhi |
ECE |
NSUT Delhi > IIITD > DTU |
For mechanical and other branch |
DTU > NSUT Delhi |
If you aren’t getting CSE at IIIT Delhi then consider CSD and CSAM branches of IIIT Delhi but only after considering the CSE of NSUT Delhi and DTU.
Here are some important things I learned from the campus placements at NSUT Delhi-
These experiences aren’t just limited to the placement season of NSUT Delhi, they are common for all the colleges/ universities.
The choice between CSE from IGDTUW and ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT depends on the goals of your daughter. If she is planning to pursue higher studies like MS or a Ph.D., then IIIT Delhi is a decent choice as it’s a research-oriented college. But if she is looking for a job, then IIIT Delhi will offer limited opportunities. This is because getting a job in Core ECE companies like Western Digital and Qualcomm is not easy, as these companies prioritize master students. A few talented students do get placed in Software firms.
In IIIT Delhi first year is the same for both CSE and ECE during which the students are taught Introduction to Programming, System Management, Computer Organisation, Data Structure, and Digital Circuits. Your chances of placement also depend on your CGPA which should be preferably above 7. IIIT Delhi offers the flexibility to choose the CSE courses, provided that you complete the minimum credits requirement in the last two years of B.Tech for the degree.
In all, I feel, that NSIT and DTU will offer great job opportunities because of their brand name but IIIT Delhi will teach you new things and also offer research opportunities
So it’s best to go for NSIT or DTU or IIIT Delhi. Choose wisely.
While IIT is a globally recognized brand, DTU is no less the mother institution of reputed colleges like IIT Delhi and FMS. It has been established got 83 years and is older than IITs. However, the institute is always the secondary thing to consider, the branch being the primary factor to focus on. Determine whether your interests lie in becoming a Computer Science engineer or an Electronics Engineer.
Personally, I would suggest you go for DTU CSE because of the following reasons:
Faculty: DTU has a rich pool of highly esteemed and well-qualified Professors with over an experience of more than 30 years of teaching
Campus: Located in a metro city, you are exposed to city life. You can also prepare for IAS, MBA, GRE, Language Courses, or coding courses as Delhi has the best coaching institutes.
DTU has a rich campus culture with over 120+ societies and 15+ Technical Teams.
Alumni
There are many alumni of DTU who have made significant contributions in various fields.
Here are a few examples:
Placements
DTU has a great placement scenario and the table below is a testament to the same. The highest CTC was offered by Palantir followed by Amazon.

Ultimately, the choice of the program depends on your area of interest as both institutes are comparable and will offer similar opportunities.
Both NSUT Delhi and DTU are prestigious institutions. I will tell you about the perks of being a student at DTU-
Both DTU and NSUT Delhi are well-renowned institutions. Joining these will be beneficial for you even after you graduate from them.
The first-ever ranking of higher education institutions in India namely the Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, and Universities was released on the 4th of April 2016, by the MHRD. Many claimed that the report was misleading as they did not conduct thorough research before ranking the institutes.
Firstly, only 233 out of 720 universities participated and it's highly possible that some of the major colleges did not participate in the survey. So to get an exact picture, 100% participation is a must. One of my friends told me that his institute was a tier-3 institute with pathetic teaching faculty and placements and yet was ranked under 70. This alone is enough to point out that fallacy in the rankings. He also told me that most of the duvet conducted was done with false credentials, therefore, discrediting the rankings.
The worst part of these MHRD rankings is that the accuracy and authenticity are in the hands of the institute which can be easily manipulated. Overall I believe that The National Institutional Ranking Framework is a good idea, but poorly executed because the rankings are done on the basis of incomplete data and are often manipulated. Unfortunately, many students fall trapped in these inflated rankings and end up h choosing the wrong institute.
DTU is an old institute of national importance with a spectacular placement record and a wide alumni base. While Galgotias University is a 5-year-old university with average placements and faculty.

DTU has a huge alumni base. Some noteworthy alumni at Delhi Technological University are Vinod Dham, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Durjoy Datta.
There is a huge difference between these two institutes and DTU is any day a better option. It’s a government university with stellar placement records. The alumni network is widespread unlike GU, and the outcomes are incomparable.

Both of these colleges are very old, and Manipal is one of the oldest private colleges in India. It is difficult to pick one institute over the other as both have their advantages.
According to NIRF Rankings 2020, Manipal University is among the top 10 universities in the country and ranked at 8. Whereas DTU is 34th among the top technical universities of India. Both these institutes have good infrastructure and offer decent academic environments.
Location wise as DTU is situated at Delhi, it offers more exposure compared to Manipal University. The alumni bases of both these campuses are great and include some big names like Satya Nadella, Rajeev Suri, Vinod Dham, and Vijay Sekhar Sharma.
According to the placement highlights of 2019, the average CTC offered at DTU was around 6.5 LPA and the highest international package offered was INR 1.02 Cr. Manipal University had an average CTC of 7.50 LPA and a maximum package of 39.60 LPA during the placement drive of 2019.
MNNIT Allahabad is better for ECE. The department has a great faculty and the professors are helpful. The ECE department has many clubs and societies such as Robotics Club and Electronics Society. These clubs have various ongoing research projects. The faculties also take part actively in these projects.
Although the core job opportunities are not too encouraging, few companies do take part in the placements drive. In the past students got internship opportunities in companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Airtel, etc. Many IT companies also recruit ECE students. According to the recent highlights of MNNIT Allahabad placements, the highest CTC offered to ECE students is around INR 51 LPA.
