Which is better: KIIT or SRM?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : July 26th, 2023

It is a very subjective question and the choice is ultimately yours to make. I would, though, give you some insight on KIIT.

The faculty at KIIT is very helpful. The teachers guide us whenever we need help. There is a strict no-ragging policy on campus and the seniors are amazing. We engage in a lot of extra-curricular activities besides study. KIIT Fest is really good and everyone looks forward to it.

Both KIIT and SRM have great faculty and placement records. Both institutions offer good opportunities. You should choose according to your personal preferences. For making an informed decision, I would recommend you talk to the students from both institutions and also do some basic research at your end.

What are some IIM Bangalore interview questions?

PR
Palak Raina Posted On : November 21st, 2022
Founder, School Bag

The interview panel generally consists of three to four interviewers. They are curious to ask about your qualifications, knowledge, awareness, work experience, job profile, and the confidence you hold and observe you deeply.

They are keen to know about your skills, the knowledge you possess regarding the facts as well as the latest news and updates about your company. They do not ask questions beyond these aspects. For them, every question is a way to know how much depth your understanding is and how well you can communicate in an understandable manner. Mostly, their questions are basic yet essential, sometimes in a tricky way to analyze the students.

How is the College of Engineering Trivandrum compared to NIT Calicut?

MJ
Melvin Joseph Posted On : May 24th, 2021
B.Tech from College of Engineering, Trivandrum (2019)

One of my friends was a student of NIT Calicut and a relative of mine is an alumnus of the College of Engineering Trivandrum. So the answer will be a comparison of their experiences.

Exams:

  • The system of Kerala University involves allowing the students to appear for supplementary exams to avoid delay in studying for their B.Tech degrees.
  • In NIT, you will have to repeat the exams you have failed in. This can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you approach your curriculum and exams.

Admission:

  • Students getting admission to CET have to appear for the KEAM; except for a small quota which is reserved for students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mizoram, Nagaland who perform well in the National level Entrance test for NITs and IITs.
  • For this reason, the cross-section of the class shows that there is a majority of Keralites.
  • The campus of NIT Calicut seems to be diverse as students come from various states of India.

Classes:

  • In CET, the classes are like the timetable of a school with a lunch break in the middle. The classes usually get over at 4:00 PM.
  • In NIT, the classes are not scheduled one after another and you can go to the hostel to catch a breather. The students probably have a say in how they want the classes to be scheduled throughout the week. Depending on your plans, you might find the intermittent NIT classes to increase your productivity.

Learning:

  • In CET, the marks that one obtains in the exams are in no way related to the understanding of the subject matter.
  • The system cannot distinguish between rote knowledge and understanding which is seemingly different from the conduction of exams in NIT.
  • It is difficult to predict question papers in CET.

CET students also get a lot of freedom as NIT students. They get ample time to do whatever they want.

Which is better NIT Trichy or DTU?

Rituparna Nath Posted On : March 2nd, 2024

NIT Trichy is probably more known to the general public across India. It has better faculty, research opportunities and infrastructure compared to DTU. On the other hand, DTU has a locational advantage, and it offers better exposure to its students.

Both the colleges have a great coding culture and good placements. Both are excellent institutes with a lot of prestige. You must choose between them on the basis of branch and other personal preferences.

Which exam is tougher to crack: CLAT or AILET (NLU, Delhi)?

RP
Rewa Pathak Posted On : September 10th, 2021
BBA LLB at National Law University, Delhi (NLU) (2021)

If you go on to compare the number of candidates per seat, then AILET is considerably more difficult than CLAT.

However, in great contrast, there were about 18 applicants competing for one seat in NLU, while in the case of AILET, there were almost 203 applicants competing for an individual seat in NLU, Delhi. If compared to CLAT, AILET is somewhat higher in the case of the difficulty level.

It is important to know that most of the students who go on to apply for AILET also apply for CLAT. But because NLU Delhi is amongst the top 5 national law universities of India, it is intensely difficult to get shortlisted.

How good is SIMSREE K J Somaiya for an MBA in operations? How are the recruiters and what roles are offered?

AS
Akhil Sawant Posted On : September 1st, 2021
MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (2011)

Having to know some people studying at both Simsree and K J Somaiya and here are some things that you should know. They both are equally good.

  • Both the institutes, for their MMS course, teach the same syllabus specified by the University of Mumbai. So, according to the content, there is no difference.
  • This is generally a good thing that you are specializing in something that roughly 4 to 5% of the batch will specialize in.
  • It is not as difficult for the placement committee to get companies with specific profiles.
  • The institutes have been there for a fairly long time and both have a steady pool of recruiters. Therefore, placements are not very problematic.
  • Having said that, placements depend on multiple factors, and nothing can be guaranteed.
  • K J Somaiya has more full-time faculty members whereas SIMSREE has more visiting faculty members. But cannot say the same about the operations specialization.

Irrespective of where you go, your responsibility is to get better, participate in competitions, do certifications, and improve yourself holistically. The institute cannot impose anything if you have no intention of doing it.

RD
Raya Das Posted On : March 24th, 2021
B.Tech Instrumentation Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2019)

My brother is a recent graduate of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Trichy, so let me share some facts about its overall performance.

There are some pros and cons of the department which include:

Pros:

  1. Vibration control research in ICE at Nit Trichy is really good.
  2. Robotics, Control, and Electronics are also good for pursuing your graduate studies.
  3. Career/ Job aspects across a variety of profiles are accessible for ICE graduates in campus placements.
  4. Seniors help a lot with academics.
  5. You will be trained to work under pressure.
  6. Classrooms are neat and have a great environment. No uniform is required for entering the labs.

Categories

ICE at NIT Trichy

Course Fee

5.65 lakh

Placement Percentage

80-90%

Highest CTC

20 LPA

Average CTC

12 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Tech Mahindra, TCS, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, etc.

Cons:

  1. There are only 11 faculties in the department out of which only two faculties teach properly.
  2. Labs are not up-to-the-mark. Most of the electronics components don’t work properly. The guidance is inadequate.
  3. Assignments provide little help.
  4. Due to continuous fests in the college, it might be difficult to concentrate on your studies.
  5. Like every college, there should be 4 classes per week, but here in ICE, the faculty members tend to keep 6-8 classes per week with students attending the classes just for the attendance.
  6. Subjects like PDD, Engineering Mechanics, and Analytical Instrumentation are taken for granted.

If you are really interested in Instrumentation, only then you should join this department. Otherwise, join some other branch in NIT T so that you are able to learn something.

How good is ITM Gwalior for CS engineering?

VS
Varun Sen Posted On : April 16th, 2021
B.Tech Engineering & Mechanical Engineering Design, ITM University Gwalior, Turari Campus (2015)

I have a lot of friends studying CSE at ITM Gwalior. I can tell their views about academic culture/exposure and placement status. Before going into that here are some details about CSE at ITM Gwalior:

Particulars

ITM Gwalior

Fees (total)

6.25 Lakhs

Highest Package Offered

12 Lakhs

Average Package

2-3 Lakhs

Top recruiters

JARO Education, Asian paints, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank

Faculty and Curriculum

  • The faculty at ITM is very poor as they lack specialization and qualification. Almost all the faculty at ITM Gwalior is B.E. only.
  • This directly affects the curriculum of the course which is not so great either. However, teachers are very supportive.

Infrastructure

  • They have well-equipped laboratories and other infrastructural benefits.
  • A lab dedicated to coding and programming is built for students to take additional courses which the school conducts on a regular basis. These courses give an edge to you over other students in Placement interviews.
  • The recently established Center of Excellence will give extra benefits, as the students are selected to work on Live Company Projects through its collaboration with numerous MNC’s.

Placement

  • With more than 62,226 placement opportunities, 372 major industries, and MNC corporate recruiters, ITM has a very special place among other ivy-league colleges of our country.
  • ITM conducts Expert Lectures, diverse seminars, International conferences every semester. This year 4 students were offered a package of 10 Lakhs by BYJUS.

Placements are the only good thing at ITM. So if you want to get a decent placement then only go for ITM.
