Which is best, IIIT Allahabad information tech or BIT Mesra ECE or IT?

AS
Aakash Sinha Posted On : March 9th, 2021
Studied at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad.

IT In IIIT- Allahabad is a great choice. It is one of the best colleges in India for this field and branch. The course structure is amazing and polished and focuses more on topics related to IT. The course emphasizes practical applications. There are almost no courses that are out of the sphere of field.

The labs and infrastructure are one of a kind and the student culture in IT is very motivated. Most of the students start taking part in competitive programming right from the 1st or 2nd year. If you find coding really interesting and see it as a career, then you should definitely go for IIIT-Allahabad. The coding culture is awesome and people praise it a lot. You will love the college for its study environment. If you feel the passion and love for hardware-oriented work, you should definitely go for ECE.

Placements:

  • The placements for IT are really good. They have top IT companies or firms visiting the campus.
  • Some of the top companies are Microsoft, Facebook, Adobe, Flipkart, Amazon, Directi, etc. offers a great package.
  • 2020 batch received the highest package of 43 LPA and an average package of 20.83 LPA.
  • The college’s reputation is growing significantly year by year.

Seeing the wonderful coding culture, the growing alumni base of brilliant minds, and therefore the previous records of placements from IIIT- Allahabad, there’s no lookout for any other college if you intend to be a part of this one.

Talking about the disadvantages, the campus doesn’t lie in the proximity area of any big city or town. The proximity to a metro city nearby is a huge problem. Though BIT Mesra has the same issue, hence I feel that both the colleges are even. A journey to Delhi by train takes a lot of time, probably a one-night trip.

Should I go for BIT Mesra for CSE/IT?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 9th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

Yes, you should certainly go for BIT Mesra CSE or IT if you weren’t able to make it to the top IITs and NITs. Here is a brief analysis of the institute based on common aspects

  • Education: The quality of education is average given the fact that some professors are experienced while some must conduct monotonous classroom sessions.
  • Campus: BIT Mesra has a beautiful campus surrounded by lush greenery. The flowers, rivers, temples, and beauty make it the perfect place for nature lovers.
  • Fee Structure: BIT Mesra BTech fees are higher than IITs and NITs because it’s a private engineering college. The total fee stands at 14.42 Lakhs which is much lower than most private engineering colleges though.
  • Clubs: CS and IT students can upgrade their skills through various clubs that conduct regular workshops and contests. ACM focuses on competitive coding.
  • Extracurricular activities: The institute does not focus on academics alone and students are given freedom to pursue their choice of extracurriculars through a number of clubs.
  • Campus life: BIT Mesra has a very vibrant campus life and students celebrate all major festivals. A number of events are organized such as Bitotsav, pantheon, Vajra, sports meet, etc.
  • Campus facilities: The campus has a number of facilities that make life comfortable for example WiFi, DC Support, hostels, Dhabas, Restranauts, gym, and stationery shops. Additionally, there are some night canteens to cater to your midnight cravings.
  • Placements: BIT Mesra placement scenario of the CS and IT branch is exceptionally good. The average package for IT last year stood at INR 20.58 LPA while that of CSE stood at INR 19.27 LPA.

I hope my answer convinced you to join BIT Mesra!

Which is better for a BTech, IT at NIT Durgapur or IT at BIT Mesra?

TA

My brother is a B.Tech IT student at BIT Mesra. Here is a list of what you can expect from this 4 year course at BIT Mesra-

  1. The CSE and IT batches have different sections.
  2. If you work hard and prepare well, you can intern at companies like Gsechs , Amazon, Directi, Microsoft, etc. during your third year, through on campus internship drives.
  3. IT students get the opportunity to be placed in top IT firms like Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Snapdeal, among others.
  4. IT is the best and the most chill branch of BIT Mesra.
  5. You will have ample time for research work and projects.
  6. If you work hard, you can achieve a good CGPA as an IT student at BIT Mesra.
  7. DC, a software which offers 13 Mbps download speed, is a great bonus while you are at the BIT campus.
  8. However, fees at BIT Mesra are a lot higher than the NITs.

Thus, if the fee is not an issue for you, I would recommend you to join BIT Mesra for your B.Tech IT degree.

What is better, CBIT IT or GRIET CSE?

AS
Anupama Sen Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
Studied at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology

B.Tech in Information Technology from CBIT is any day better than a Computer Science and Engineering degree from GRIET. The reason is that the CBIT IT branch has better placements than that of a GRIET CSE branch.

Placements: (Winning Institute - CBIT)

  • We know that placements are one of the biggest factors in choosing a college and in that regard CBIT is a much better choice even though GRIET is not bad.
  • Many top companies such as Microsoft visit both campuses and offer comparable high annual compensation.
  • However, the companies usually recruit more students in the higher compensation packages at CBIT. So, your chances of securing the dream job are relatively easier at CBIT than at GRIET.

The average placements hover in the INR 6 LPA to INR 12 LPA range at CBIT for IT and CSE branches with the lowest package of close to INR 3.5 LPA. There are also a lot more MNCs coming to the CBIT campus than that of the GRIET campus.

Course Fee:

The only area where GRIET zooms ahead of CBIT is in the case of the program fee. For CBIT it is now INR 2.2 lakhs for the management quota students while it is only between INR 1 lakhs to 1.5 lakhs for GRIET.

You should choose CBIT as it offers better placements.

Should I prefer IIIT Lucknow IT over IIIT Guwahati CS?

KS
Karuna Saini Posted On : March 12th, 2021
Studies at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (2022)

Although IIIT Lucknow is an excellent institute in terms of placement and coding culture, IIIT Guwahati is not very far from the standards of IIIT Lucknow. There are several negative reviews about IIIT Guwahati over the internet and it is being falsely treated as inferior.

The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes.

Particulars

IIIT Lucknow

IIIT Guwahati

Total Fees (B.Tech)

Rs. 9.81 Lakhs

Rs. 9.05 Lakhs

Highest Package offered

Rs. 43 LPA

Rs. 17 LPA

Median Package offered

Rs. 15 LPA

Rs. 6.5 LPA

JEE Main Cut off

14268

21601

JEE Advanced Cut off

10848

22823

Key Highlights:

  • Guwahati has very pleasant weather throughout the year, except for the humid month of August. Lucknow has an extreme type climate and so, this pleasance is lacking there. There is no problem of severe mosquitoes in Guwahati, but spiders and lights insects are often found.
  • It is true that IIIT Lucknow has excellent coding culture inside its campus, with participation in several competitions. But, there are false facts about IIIT Guwahati that it has no such culture, and these are purely misleading.
  • There are some excellent professors in IIIT Guwahati. Going into some personal preferences by students, lecturers from some professors namely Soumi ma’am (CSE), Sumit sir (CSE), Mansoor sir (ECE), Arjun sir (Maths), etc are quite interesting.
  • The attendance rule of 75-85% is not very strict to be followed in IIIT Guwahati.
  • Classrooms and laboratories in the academic building are well equipped with all necessary facilities and equipment and are air-conditioned too. Mostly, students are given single occupancy rooms, with attached toilets, which may be delayed due to the construction of a new hostel.
  • Mess quality is a place of personal opinion and depends upon the type of food one likes. IIIT Guwahati serves both veg and non-veg food, in North and South-Indian cuisines. There is a little issue with the hygiene of the mess in IIIT Guwahati, which is usually the case in all hostels.
  • Placements alone can never be the means of judgment for a batch of students, considering the fact that past records don’t matter that much in the future.

Therefore, both the institutes are good, with the presence of all necessary facilities and offerings. Reviewing an institute should not be manipulative and misleading.

What should I choose between NIT Kurukshetra IT or NIT Delhi CSE?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : October 11th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

NIT Kurukshetra IT is a much better choice than NIT Delhi CSE. IT is in fact a much better branch these days considering the syllabus of both branches.

  • NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech ranking by NIRF is 58 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023.
  • NIT Kurukshetra is as old as NIT Delhi so its infrastructure, alumni network, and brand name are at par with NIT Delhi.
  • NIT Kurukshetra has air-conditioned classrooms, and well-maintained hostels and is located remotely in a serene area whereas NIT Delhi, is nowhere located near the city of Delhi.

NIT Kurukshetra IT placements have been mentioned below:

Number of eligible students

91

Students placed

85

Placement%

93.41%

Placement Offers

118

Median Package

INR 14.88 LPA

Average Package

INR 18.30 LPA

Overall, NIT Kurukshetra is a much better choice than NIT Delhi considering all the above points.

How good is the B.Tech information technology course at the Manipal Institute of Technology?

AG
Alka Gupta Posted On : September 9th, 2023
Studied at Manipal Institute Of Technology

MIT Manipal BTech Information Technology is decently structured covering concepts related to software, hardware, and networking as well. Although the degree offered is that B.E in IT, the department is called Information and Communication Technology so students have to also study communication courses straight from students of the ECE branch.

I will advise you to take up this course only if you are interested in computers and related stuff because the concepts taught are tough and unless you have an interest in the field you won’t be able to cope with the rigorous curriculum. Here are some additional points you would like to know about the branch

  • Every semester has 5 subjects and 3 labs. The labs carry two credits, unlike other branches where they have 2 labs of 1 credit. So practicals are given a lot of importance.
  •  A good variety of electives are offered making the curriculum flexible.
  • You will have to learn to code if you opt for this branch.
  • The IT branch has 5 subjects only so they can go home earlier than other students and the end-semesters get over two days earlier.
  • There are evaluations every fortnight in the labs, lab sessionals, and quizzes for internals for theory subjects and labs as well which other branches don't.
  • The placement scenario is great because of the immense demand of this branch.

Overall, this branch will fetch you enough opportunities if you are genuinely passionate about it.

Which one is better for CSE: Jaypee Institute of Information Technology or NIT Hamirpur?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : September 14th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

There are several factors which one can consider while comparing two institutions. Here are some things that I considered while choosing my college.

NIT Hamirpur will offer you the prestigious ‘NIT’ tag. As compared to other colleges in this region, the environment over there is superior. By environment I mean the learning, interaction and personal development offered at an institution. The placements are continuously improving with new companies visiting the campus each year, offering better packages. This college has shown positive growth in terms of exposure and student- teacher interaction as well.

Even though I’m a student of NIT Hamirpur, my opinion is devoid of such biases. Thus, according to me, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice for your CSE program.

How is ICT in PDPU?

RS
Raghav Sinha Posted On : September 14th, 2022
B.Tech in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar (PDEU)

PDPU is a good option for pursuing ICT. The course curriculum is designed beautifully. The course structure is such that students get to learn from other resources as well. ICT bridges the gap between CE and ECE. The course outcome is pretty good in the field of technology. The faculties of the department are helpful and cooperative. PDPU placement highlights show the average and highest CTC to be INR 6.09 LPA and INR 25 LPA respectively.

Which is best: IT at MNNIT, Allahabad; IT at IIIT, Allahabad; CSE at BIT, Mesra; or CSE at MANIT, Bhopal?

SR
Swati Rajan Posted On : March 16th, 2021
B.Tech Mathematics and Computing, Delhi Technological University (2018)

My brother is currently studying IT at IIIT Allahabad and according to his first-hand experience and your interest in IT, the order of preference for you should be:

IIITA>MNNIT>BITM>MANIT

It is because if you are genuinely interested in IT then IIIT Allahabad is the best option you can choose because of the following key points:

  • The campus is well equipped in terms of infrastructure and facilities and the coding culture is quite good there. Also, it is an institute specifically made for IT, so the infrastructure is planned according to it.
  • The course structure at IIIT Allahabad is also strikingly different from what you'll find at any other engineering college in India. It focuses a lot on programming and electronics-related subjects, right from the first year itself.

In NITs, you need to study a lot of subjects not at all related to your branch or course!

However, MNNIT or BIT Mesra may prove to be better options in case you realize that computers are not your cup of tea and decide to go into the non-tech sector. You will have a lot of diverse companies visiting these campuses, while in IIIT Allahabad you’ll see only IT companies coming to recruit.

Also, JEE Main rank of all the options you mentioned will differ from each other. So your rank also plays a major role in selection.
