Comparatively, the telecommunication branch has less opportunities in RVCE or anywhere in India in general. However, if you have a keen interest in Civil engineering, then you should not change their branch. Placements are not the only thing that needs to be focused on. Changing the branch will also not make any much difference as both the courses EEE and Civil Engineering provide more or less the same average package that is Rs 3-4 LPA. However, keep in mind that in recent times, there are also other colleges that are not able to fulfill the promised core placements for Civil.

Although Civil Engineering has poor core placements, there are many non-core companies which allow the students of Civil to sit for the placement. The average CTC offered by the non-core IT companies visiting the campus for the placement drive is 10 LPA.

Therefore, a student should keep in mind all the factors when changing a branch and not solely look at placements.
