WBUHS: MBBS Exams 2020 to commence from first week of December; Check Details Here


The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) has declared a tentative examination date for MBBS professional examinations. Accordingly, Exams are to be conducted in the first week of December for first, second and third-year professional MBBS students. Earlier MBBS exams were scheduled to be conducted in September.

Due to the nation wise COVID-19 crisis, MBBS practical classes of all the batches remained cancelled. Whereas theoretical classes for all the batches of MBBS continued via digital platforms. WBUHS on September 18 had appealed to all medical colleges to complete practical classes and internal assessments within two months of opening of the medical colleges. Likewise, training and teaching should also be completed within time.

Students to face hardship in the renewal of the scholarship

Yearly stipends between Rs 17,000 and Rs 33,000 under scholarship schemes benefit about 10,000 medical students in the state. Delay in MBBS final examination is to hamper students availing scholarship facilities. Students need to provide a mark sheet to avail scholarship facilities. The last date of renewal of the scholarship is November 15.

Medical Educationist from SSKM college stated "The scholarship has to be renewed every year. This year, the last date of renewal is November 15.” He further added “The students need the mark sheet to apply for the renewal of the scholarship. Now since the examination has been pushed back, where will they get the mark sheets?”

WBUHS vice-chancellor Rajendra Pandey said that promotion will be done only after examination and students may face financial hardship to avail the scholarship benefits this year. Vice-chancellor in a meeting "We cannot promote students without examination. The government is working out ways so that these students continue to benefit from the schemes."
