New Delhi: The individuals responsible for uploading the image of a few pages from the English test of Class 10 West Bengal board exams in Malda district have been located. The specifics of the investigation have been shared with the relevant authorities for follow-up action.
Ramanuj Ganguly, the president of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), has announced that nine mobile phones in total, including seven in the Malda district, were seized during the board exams, which began on February 23 and concluded on March 4, 2023.
However, he omitted to say who the cell phones belonged to or whether any of them were used to upload the photographs. The English Class 10 exam was held on 24th February 2023. After one and a half hours of the three-hour exam, three pages among the 16 pages of the question paper were uploaded to WhatsApp and got distributed.
The exam centre in Malda served as the exam centre of youthful mischief. All the three pages that were shared on social media have been successfully traced back to their original source. Unfortunately, the investigation cannot go further like an investigating agency, Ganguly said.
According to Ganguly, all the information was shared to the Malda district government so that the cybercrime department could investigate the case further.
They are unable to imagine the long-term results of such actions. It was a foolish move that would have no impact on the examination. Any such malpractice may now be quickly identified thanks to stronger restrictions on electronic surveillance, which should serve as a wake-up call to any conspirators "the WBBSE director stated.
The examinations went down without a hitch, he claimed, barring from this one act of "sabotage". He stated that the Board will take steps to ensure that the students' interest is not harmed by the failure to provide graph sheets to examinees together with the Mathematics question paper.
He stated that none of the instructors who were fired by the Calcutta High Court due to the SSC recruitment scandal had the necessary training to assess exam answers for the WBBSE.
According to Ganguly, the Board has set a deadline for publishing the exam results in May of this year. A total of 6,98,627 students registered to take the WB class 10 state board exam.
