December 23, 2020: The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced that admission to UP Technical institutes will be given on the basis of JEE Main scores instead of UPSEE.
CM Yogi Adityanath announced on December 22, that in order to improve the quality of education, the new admission process should be applicable by next session, with admission on the basis of JEE Main.
The state will also introduce Under-Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude test (UGPAT) for admission to B.Pharma colleges across the state.

The UGPAT will be organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) with recommended suggestions from Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU)
The state has around 21,000 seats for B.Pharma programs by 270 Institutes. The admission process will be based on national tests from the academic session 2021-22 instead of UPSEE examination.

Vice-Chancellor of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University said that the national pharmacy test UGPAT will not only help the students take admission in UP but in other states as well. The exam will be coordinated by Prof. Subodh Varia.
JEE Mains exam will be conducted four times now as per the decision of the Central government. Since it's the ticket to admission in many prestigious colleges of India, students have a better chance to secure their seats in multiple attempts.
