NIRF Ranking 2021: Hon'ble Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework, NIRF Ranking 2021 today on September 09, 2021, at 12:00 Noon on its official website at nirfindia.org.
As per the notice released, NIRF Ranking 2021 has been made available on the official website of the Ministry of Education (webcast.gov.in) and on the National Institutional Ranking Framework website at nirfindia.org.

NIRF Ranking 2021: Live Updates
- As per the latest updates, the National Institutional Ranking Framework, NIRF Ranking 2021 has been released by today on September 09, at nirfindia.org.
- NIRF Ranking 2021 has been released live through the Government's webcast portal: https://webcast.gov.in/MoE, and the Education Ministry's official YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtC0G3lWl2A, etc.
- IIT Madras has once again secured its top ranking in the NIRF 2021 for the third time in a row and secured the first position in Best Engineering Colleges in India ranking 2021.
- Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has secured the second position in the overall category followed by JNU and BHU at the second and third rank in NIRF 2021.
- Additionally, the IISc Bangalore has made its place in the top rank in NIRF's newly introduced category called "Research", followed by IIT-Madras in Rank 2, IIT-Bombay in Rank 3, and IIT Delhi in Rank 4.
- In Dental Category, which is a newly introduced category in NIRF 2021, the first ranking has been achieved by Manipal College of Dental Science, and second-ranked by DY Patil Vidyapeeth.
- NLSIU Bangalore has now received the title of best law college in India by securing its position at the first place in NIRF Law Category, while the runner-up place is secured by NLSIU, Bengaluru, and NLU, Delhi in Rank 2 and Rank 3 respectively.
- As per NIRF Ranking 2021, the best college in the Architecture domain is IIT Roorkee, while the top position for Medical College in India has been bagged by All India Institute of Medical Science - AIIMS New Delhi.
- In the Management Category of NIRF 2021, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore continue to dominate the management ranking by securing the top places.
NIRF Rankings 2021: Top 10 Overall Institutes Vs Last Year Top 10 Institutes
Following the release of the NIRF 2021 Rankings, the Indian Institutes of Technology Madras has gained its ranking and has secured the top position overall as well as in the research domain for the third time in a row.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore which secured the first position in the NIRF 2020 Rankings has bagged second place in the 2021 NIRF Ranking. Check the list of top 10 institutes in NIRF 2021 Overall Rankings in the reference table below:

NIRF Ranking is released every year in the month of June by the Education Minister. The rankings identify the top educational institutes and colleges in India. NIRF lists the top institutes in rankings based on various parameters, which include Research and Professional Practices (RP), Teaching and Learning Resources (TLR), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Peer Perception, and Outreach and Inclusivity (IO).
This year, NIRF Ranking 2021 release has been delayed by a few months due to the surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the country and subsequent lockdown that was imposed. The 2021 rankings is out now on the official website of NIRF – nirfindia.org.
