New Delhi: The 1.5-acre biodiversity park is on the Kalina campus of Mumbai University. It took nine months to construct the park, which was funded by the CSR activity of HDFC Asset Management Company as part of their implementing sustainable project.

It is created by the Rotary Club of Bombay (RCB) with the assistance of CSR donors. The RCB and Mumbai University have signed a 10-year MoU to preserve it. The park is an oasis in a metropolis, becoming a concrete jungle.

Vineet Bhatnagar, president of the RCB, stated that flora and wildlife facilities at Mumbai University's Kalina Campus for visitors to sit and meditate, and an amphitheatre-like structure would allow people to discourse and maintain the environment.

Rotary International District 3141's district governor, Sandip Agarwalla, stated: "Rotary International's new Area of Focus is support for the environment.

In addition to constructing the bio-diversity park as a centre for nature education and experience, we have established a comprehensive ecological curriculum for school children with the help of other partners. In the works is a planet run to establish a fund for Environmental Studies."

There was a play, a speech, and a musical performance. According to Free Press Journal, the talk programme centred on biotic factors such as birds, bees, animals, and pollinators and the scientific method employed to maintain the park's self-sustainability.

"We learned about the natural trees within a two-kilometre radius, each bug, butterfly, and soil plant, and then we planted trees. The research came first, followed by the trees, "says park curator and biodiversity planner Abhishek Kawitkar.

"Also planned for Miyawaki were a bird-friendly oasis and nectar-producing plants for the butterfly garden. There are fish in ponds and an ecosystem that will flourish with time, "he continued.
