MICA witnesses record breaking strength of female students in 2020 batch

MICA (formerly Mudra Institute of Communication) is among the most reputed business schools in India.

In its 2020 batch, MICA has broken a new record for a balanced gender ratio. The number of female students this year has been the highest among all batches so far.

The record for female students is among the current batches across all programs of the institute.

An impressive 55% of the students who took admission to the PGP course are female, with a total strength of 119. The strength of male students on the other hand is 97 in the current batch. This is quite a transition from last year’s batch with 103 female and 113 male students.

What’s also striking is that 90% of students taking admission in the Fellow Program in Management are female. Similarly, 70% of admissions to the Crafting Creative Communications program consist of female students. The FPM batch will have a strength of 7 females per 8 students.

The Director and President of MICA, Dr Shailendra Raj Mehta pointed out that along with the impressive gender ratio among students, nearly half the faculty also consists of women.

According to the students, the reason for the high number of females in the new batches can be attributed to the supportive and encouraging environment offered by the institute. This helps female students feel welcome to pursue the courses of their choice.
