Maharashtra CET 2021 Not to be Held for UG Admissions, Confirms State Govt

Maharashtra CET 2021: Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has confirmed that the admission process for various undergraduate programs in the state will commence without the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) 2021.

On August 04, 2021, Higher Education Minister Uday Samant held a meeting to discuss the UG Admission process in the states. During the meeting, the education minister announced that Maharashtra CET 2021 examination will not be conducted this year due to the pandemic.

As per the state government’s announcement, considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Degree admission in Maharashtra state will now be conducted on the basis of Maharashtra HSC Result 2021 of students.

Earlier, on August 03, 2021, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) had declared the result for MAH Class 12th 2021 students to check and download on its official examination portal.

As per the Maharashtra State Class 12th Result 2021, more than 90 per cent of marks scorers have achieved higher scores than the previous year's result. Students whose result has been released were waiting for the release of Maharashtra CET 2021 Dates.

However, keeping in mind the safety of the students, the state government has cancelled the examination for this year. With the cancellation of the MAH Common Entrance Test (CET), major questions regarding the admission process have now been rising. Stakeholders have also raised their concerns regarding how the admission process for the degree course will commence without CET 2021.

Assessing the concerns, Higher Education Minister tweeted “The results of Class XII examination have been declared and admission to the first year degree course of traditional non-professional courses in colleges affiliated to non-agricultural universities will be on the basis of Class XII marks only and no Common Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted for this".

He further added that the admission process for UG courses in the arts, commerce, and science stream will now commence on the basis of students’ scores in the Maharashtra Board HSC Result 2021. Maharastra state university and colleges have been directed to make sure that no student will be left off from the admission process, Higher Education Minister Uday Samant added.
