New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal recently joined a meeting to discuss the master plan for the redevelopment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) into a "world-class medical university" in India.

During a meeting held on February 02, 2022, the officials decided to ensure the completion of the AIIMS redevelopment plan on time. Each member will be responsible for meeting periodically to review the status of the project.

The meeting was chaired by Delhi L-G Anil Baijal and was joined by CEO of NITI Aayog, Vice-Chairman of the DDA, and AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria along with other senior officials of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Referring to the initiative, Delhi Lieutenant Governor officially tweet reads, “While appreciating the highlights of the Master Plan it was decided to put in place an institutional mechanism to coordinate and facilitate timely grant of NOCs/ clearances required for the project from different departments and agencies including DDA, local bodies, forest, fire, etc".

As per the data shared through the Union Budget 2022 presented by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, the budget of AIIMS has been found to be increased to INR 4,190 crore from its last year's budget of INR 3,800 crore.

The medical budget has been increased mainly due to the various development initiatives made by the institute. The initiatives were taken to prepare the medical education institutes to fight the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.

Following the Union Budget 2022, the budget of top medical institutes, such as JIPMER, (PGIMER) and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) have also increased in the current session.

As of now, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences offers various medical AIIMS PG and UG Courses to students. The top courses offered by the institute include MBBS, B.Optom, P.B.B.Sc, and M.H.A (hospital).

The selection of candidates for AIIMS Admission 2022 is done based on their scores in the NEET examination and their overall performance in the interview round conducted by the institute on the campus ground.
