KEA Architecture 2020 Rank List Release Held Back, New Dates to Update Soon; Get Details

After some complaints received regarding the discrepancies in the calculation of the marks, KEA has decided to hold back the result of the Architecture Rank list 2020. The new release dates for the same will be announced soon.

Karnataka Examination Authority calculates the results of NATA by considering the candidate’s class XIIth exam score and the score of either JEE Main Paper II or NATA exam in equal weightage while calculating the final marks.

KEA released the results of JEE Main paper 2 in the form of percentile scores while all the other parameters were calculated in the form of actual scores.

Due to these mistakes, the rank for the NATA candidates was pushed down while the JEE Main Paper 2 counterparts secured higher ranks. The top-rankers who have scored in the range of 87-88% have also been placed at a lower position.

The reason for the inconsistencies has not been officially declared. However, some of the parents and students have put forth their assumptions about what would have likely gone wrong.

One of the students said, that KEA must have considered the marks of the JEE main percentile score rather than the actual score for calculating the final marks.

Furthermore, a parent said that 90 percentile marks must have been calculated as 90 percent marks during the preparation of the rank list and that is what created the mistakes.

A meeting was held among the authorities to discuss these inconsistencies in the results and their rectification. However, no official announcement was made after the meeting.

In response, the parents of the candidates had collectively submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Higher Education and other elected representatives after which KEA took a decision to refrain from releasing the rank list.

In an official statement that was released by KEA, authorities have mentioned that a new date for the publishing of the rank list will be announced soon and that the inconvenience was regretted.
