New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University has planned to roll out 5 new departments, among which one will be made by upgrading an existing centre to a new department.
JMI University stated that the President of India had approved the proposed amendments to the university’s statute. As a result, a new faculty for management studies will be introduced by the varsity.
The launch of these new departments will result in an increase in the number of courses offered and the number of seats for admission in UG, PG courses at the varsity level.
Jamia Millia Islamia University: New Departments & Faculty
According to the circular issued by the registrar's office of the college, following are the newly created departments at the university.
- Department of Foreign languages
- Department of Hospital management hospices studies
- Department of Environmental studies
- Department of Design and innovation
- Department of Management Studies
After upgrading the existing Centre for Management Studies, JMI will set up the Department of Management Studies. As per the amendment, the faculty of management studies will be created.
The establishment of new departments and faculty has been made by amending the statutes 17, 20 and 22-A of the statute of Jamia Millia Islamia university.
Recently, the JMI university has adopted the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2022) for admission to its 10 undergraduate courses.
Candidates seeking admissions into those UG courses of JMI are required to appear for the CUET 2022 exam as well as register their candidature on the JMI website -- jmicoe.in, and enter CUET 2022 application number in the JMI admission form.
Jamia Millia Islamia University Admission: Selection Process
Jamia Millia Islamia University offers admission to multiple UG and PG courses. Interested candidates seeking admission can submit their applications till May 12, 2022.
Candidate's selection to the UG and PG courses will be done based on their performance in CUET or any other entrance exams. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the personal interview round, after which they will be finally selected depending upon their overall performance.
