IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Srinagar Joined Hands for Academic Collaboration: Read Full Report Here

November 23, 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, and NIT Jalandhar have recently collaborated to jointly work on various research and collaborative academic activities. 

Under this collaboration, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar along with the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar and NIT Jalandhar will work on areas of mutual interest and will hold various workshops and seminars. 

With this initiative, the institutes are now planning to work on the exchange of students and faculty between IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar, and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar and offer joint supervision of Ph.D. students. 

Welcoming the collaboration, the IIT Ropar Director, Professor Rajeev Ahuja said, “I am confident that this collaboration between IIT Ropar and NIT Srinagar will lead to major research works that will benefit the general public and the residents of Jammu and Kashmir in particular”.

He further added that with this collaboration, the meritorious students of NIT Srinagar have the option to complete their final year of the program at the IIT Ropar campus. Students can continue their Ph.D. education after their graduation from the institute.

“Each institution will nominate one of its members as its representative in charge of the cooperative program. Individual programs of work under this Memorandum will be jointly planned and conducted by the nominees of both parties,” the official MoU reads.

Adding to the statement, the Director of NIT Jalandhar, Prof. Rajeev Okay Garg added that the collaboration between top institutes of India has been done in light of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). 

The collaboration will not only offer students with various new opportunities but will also help them in generating new knowledge and pursuing their career in the field of science and technology, he further added. 

Referring to the initiative, Professor Rakesh Sehgal, Director, NIT Srinagar said, “This collaboration will bring technology solutions for the basic problems the industry is facing at J&K and also help our PG students, research scholars, and faculty”.

“This collaborative move will bring synergy in finding novel and innovative solutions to the problems faced by the industry in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in particular” he added.
