New Delhi: IIT Madras witnessed a tremendous increase of 32% in internships on the very day of campus internship placement drive for the 2022-23 batch, where 221 students got placed and 15 international offers were received.
This year, IIT Madras held the day 1 of the internship drive in two sessions on August 6 and 13. As the number of students who received internship offers increased by 48 percent, the number of companies that recruited students for IIT-Madras also increased to 48%.
Some of the top-notch recruiters who participated in the IIT Madras internship placement drive were American Express (20 offers), Boston Consulting Group (17 offers), Texas Instruments (40 offers), and Goldman Sachs (16 offers).
IIT Madras Internship Placement Drive 2022: Internship Offers
Tabulated below illustrates the internship offers received by students of IIT Madras on the day 1 of the internship drive from 2020 to 2022.

The International internship offers were made by the US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Netherlands. Out of the total 37 companies that participated on the internship drive on day 1, 13 companies conducted interviews in person on campus, while the remaining 24 conducted the interview online
The interviews took place online/offline so that the students could participate virtually, consequently, one of the students attended the interview from Canada.
Speaking about the success of the internships, Nikhil Pai, Student Internship Head, IIT Madras, said that the internship team had prepared in advance to target specific sectors and recruit new companies to bridge the supply-demand between companies and students.
As a result, the number of students receiving internships increased. In addition, a special emphasis was put on international companies to provide the students more exposure, he added.
Recently, the institute concluded its placement process , where it witnessed a total of 1,199 lucrative job offers from almost 380 companies, which is the highest ever during campus placements in a single academic year.
