New Delhi: IIT Madras has successfully concluded its placement process, where it received a total of 1,199 lucrative job offers from almost 380 companies, which is the highest ever during campus placements in a single academic year.
According to the IIT Madras statement, nearly 80% of students who chose campus placements in 2021–22 received handsome job offers.
The highest salary offered to the students was USD 250,000 (Rs 1.98 crore), while the average salary offered was INR 21.48 lakh per year.
This year, the institute witnessed almost 380 companies making a total of 1,199 job offers throughout Phases I and II of campus placements.
In addition, 231 pre-placement offers (PPOs) from summer internships were also received, bringing the total number of offers received to 1,430, which is a considerable increase from the previous record of 1,151 offers (2018-19).
In the IIT Madras placements 2022 , a total of 14 top-notch companies, including Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid, and Uber, made 45 international offers.
In phase I and II, as many as 131 start-ups made 199 offers. Almost 61 MBA students were all placed, giving the Department of Management Studies a successful placement rate of 100 percent.
The institute recorded 42 percent of placements in the core engineering and technology sector, while just 17 percent each occurred in the information technology and software development and data science and analytics sectors.
CS Shankar Ram, outgoing advisor (placement), said that the IIT Madras Placements 2022 reflects a tangible outcome of the value-addition to students at an academic institution.
