Seminar on Role of Digital Technology in Education

New Delhi: In order to prepare for the G20 Summit in India, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) hosted a seminar on the "role of digital technology in education. On January 31, 2023, the seminar was held in the IIT Madras research park.

The goal of the seminar  at IIT Madras was to identify national policies for the use of digital technology in education in G20 member nations. The first education working group meeting, "Sherpa Track," which will take place in Chennai from January 31 to February 2 of 2023, is a subgroup of this conference.

What is the Objective of the G20 Seminar?

To encourage potential research and academic cooperation between academic institutions in G20 countries, the Education working group must suggest themes. A 50-stall exhibition will also be held in addition to this. The seminar's exhibits cover research, innovation, and skill-based subjects.

The recently renovated IIT Madras Heritage Centre will teach the delegates who will visit the campus of IIT Madras about the evolution of the Institute over the years. Delegates will learn about the most recent studies being conducted at the "Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre" at IIT Madras as well as innovations made by the student-run centre for innovation, where students collaborate on extracurricular projects.

The Sustainable Development Goal 4 ambition of delivering inclusive and high-quality education for all will be a focus of the G-20 conference, which will also discuss how digital technology may be leveraged to boost student learning opportunities and learning results.

Who will Participate in G20 Seminar?

The G 20 seminar held at IIT Madras drew a sizable audience. They include representatives from each G20 member nation's working committee on education, as well as visitors from other nations and international organisations. Additionally, representatives of academic institutions from G20 member nations took part in initiatives that supported the use of digital technology to provide high-quality learning opportunities for everyone and enhance learning results.

Furthermore, this conference included representatives from Indian knowledge partners as well as from international organisations like UNESCO, UNICEF, the World Bank, and OECD, among others.
