IIT Madras has signed a MOU with Tamil Nadu Government for Learning Management System

New Delhi: To improve digital assessments and school pupils' learning experiences, researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have teamed up with the Department of School Education in Tamil Nadu. They will do this by converting the current digital learning platform to a learning management system with an assessment focus.

Researchers at IIT Madras will create a learning management system that will be used in newly constructed high-tech labs in 6,000 government schools to enhance the learning experience for 90 lakh students.

At the moment, a digital learning platform called Education Management Information System is used to complement Tamil Nadu's schools. Researchers from IIT Madras will leverage their experience in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to find ways to enhance the framework for the distribution of educational materials and how assessments are carried out.

Based on the most current taxonomy-based content mapping conducted by the education department, researchers will provide a wide range of tools. These include the development of assessments, performance evaluation that includes fraud detection, a variety of dashboards to track students' learning progress, as well as monitoring at the school and district levels.

Three phases will be used to carry out the complete endeavour. The first part of the project will concentrate on content management for educational content and assessment, the second phase will work on distribution and feedback for educational content and assessment, and the third phase will emphasise data analytics, dashboards, and reporting systems.
