New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur's Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) has been nominated as India's lead coordinator for the "ASEAN India Startup Festival 2022”. The festival will be held in Indonesia from October 27, 2022.

The three-day long “ASEAN India Startup Festival 2022” will be held to mark the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN India Partnership from October 27 to 30, 2022. The event’s main goal is to strengthen collaboration in the field of science and technology.
For the festival, IIT Kanpur will select 30 Indian startups to represent India at the International Platform. The participating startups that are nominated will be given the opportunity to compete in the event's "Pitch Battle" for a cash prize of up to $7,500 USD.
During the festival, shortlisted Indian startups will get the chance to network with companies and investors on a global scale. Interesting participants who wish to join the event can now submit their registrations by September 12, 2022.
The selection of registered candidates will be done on the basis of a two-round interview process conducted by IIT Kanpur. After the application process, the final list of shortlisted participants will be presented on the program's website at siicincubator.com/IndoAsean.php.
Addressing the new startups, IIT Kanpur Director Abhay Karandikar said, “I'm pleased that the incubator ecosystem at IIT Kanpur can share the lessons it has learned over the past 20 years with new incubators in both India and the ASEAN region”.
“The ASEAN India Startup Festival will be organised by SIIC, the technology business incubator at IIT Kanpur. I'm confident that the festival will create a number of opportunities for the participating countries to grow collaboratively in innovation and research” he added.
The National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia is coordinating the ASEAN-India Startup Festival with Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo (INA-RIE). The festival is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of Government of India.
