IIT Bombay Launches MA Research Program; Last Date to Apply is April 27

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has as launched a new programme, Master of Arts by Research (MA Res) under the humanities and social sciences department. The new course has been introduced to develop the research skills in students that are important in both academia and the workplace.

IIT Bombay is offering the newly introduced 2-year MA Research Programme in three broad specializations such as human sciences, linguistics, literature. The total admission intake of the program is 20 seats. 

IIT Bombay MA Research Admission 2022: Highlights 

Under the MA programme, "Students will learn to integrate diverse sources of information, learn to read, think and write critically, and learn to apply conceptual, analytical and methodological frameworks," said the IIT-B statement. 

The new MA programme includes common courses in the first semester, and students get to choose different other courses after the first semester to support disciplinary crossovers and to facilitate a student-driven approach.

“IIT Bombay emphasizes strong analytical skill development among students in all academic programmes. The proposed M.A.Res. will additionally strengthen the learning-by-doing concept amongst the entrants in the new programme,” said the director of IIT Bombay, professor Subhasis Chaudhuri.

Following the director of IIT-B, another faculty, The head of HSS department said that they are looking forward to the new course especially given its potential for interdisciplinary teaching and the opportunity to train a new cohort of students in research.

IIT Bombay MA Research Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

• Aspiring candidates must have a bachelor's degree with minimum 50% from a recognized university in the relevant discipline.
• Candidates pursuing their final year exams / waiting for their results are also eligible to apply
• Candidates must hold a valid score in the GATE Exam.

IIT Bombay MA Research Admission 2022: Selection Process

• Firstly the applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in GATE Exam
• Shortlisted candidates then have to appear for the Group Discussion/ personal interview/written test rounds.
• Candidates must appear for MA by Research Admissions Test (MAAT­2022).
• Final selection is based on the composite score of MAAT 2022

Candidates interested and eligible for the MA Research program of IIT Bombay can apply by following the steps below:

Step 1. Visit the official application portal of IIT Bombay

Step 2. Register yourself for the course after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3. Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4. Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 

Step 5. Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.
