IIM-V Collabs with IIITDM-K for Joint Programs and Research; Details Here

Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool, (IIITDM-K) have joined hands to explore Joint programmes and research projects. 

IIM-V and IIITDM-K on September 19, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under this collaboration where both the institutes will explore joint programmes, including academic title granting programs. 

In order to participate in the joint consulting and research projects, the institutes will also partner for resource-sharing, including faculty experts. Meanwhile, the signing and exchange of the MoU were held between Director Professor M Chandrasekhar, IIM Visakhapatnam, and IIITDM-K Director Professor DVLN Somayajulu.

While speaking at the event, the IIM Visakhapatnam director expressed his hope that the partnership will enable the institute to address capacity-building and applied-research requirements of the industry in their areas of expertise together, as per the press release.

The Professor said that the endeavour would be to introduce programs offering a judicious blend of design and manufacturing skills together with an aim at industry professionals and practitioners for production and project management. 

In the meantime, the IIITDM-K Director Professor Somayajulu said that the initiative is for the furtherance of the aim of the New Education Policy 2020 that will encourage collaborative, multi-disciplinary learning. 

Further, the partnership will assist both institutions to jointly address the training and consultancy requirements of the industry in the hard skills of manufacturing as well as in the soft and social skills of management, hence offering a one-stop solution that maximises the benefit to the stakeholders, he added. 

Therefore, IIM Visakhapatnam and IIITDM-K under the collaboration are forming a joint working group now, in order to explore and advance opportunities that are in the current context and are of interest to the industry. 

Moreover, the joint initiative will bring into fruition an objective of the Higher Education Planning Board of Andhra Pradesh introduced by the AP State Council of Higher Education, to promote collaboration, cooperation and co-working among the member institutions of the AP, mentioned in the press note.
