A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed in this regard between IIM Bodh Gaya and Bihar's water resources department (WRD).

The MoU was signed by Padma Kant Jha, director of the state water and land management institute (WALMI), and Vinita Sahay, director of IIM Bodh Gaya, at a ceremony conducted at Gyan Bhawan.

Sanjay Kumar Jha, the minister of information and public relations, the secretary of the department of water resources, and the chief engineer Rabindra Kumar Shanker were also present during the signing event.

Speaking at the event, the minister noted that the MoU is a historic step toward the growth of agriculture in the state. Engineering and management integration would offer long-term solutions to the numerous issues relating to water resources.

He asserted that the department's properly trained staff will be capable of dealing with the issues caused by droughts and floods.

In her discussion of the value of education, Padma Kant Jha stated that IIM-Bodh Gaya can aid in developing the department's engineers' capacity for leadership and management.

According to Rabindra Kumar Shanker, management and leadership training will greatly raise the department's performance.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal emphasised the importance of enhancing engineers' management skills because the majority of them serve as practice managers.

According to the MoU, creating an effective irrigation system is urgently needed in an agricultural state like Bihar. However, the state's unique geology makes it challenging to safeguard people and property against flooding.
