New Delhi: The Union government has named Dr. Prasanth Lavania as the next president of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Madurai after former president V. Nagarajan passed away on January 13 after a cardiac arrest.
Earlier, in October 2022, Dr. Nagarajan Venkataraman (77) was appointed. Now, Dr. Prasanth Lavania, who's currently working as a professor in the department of surgery, Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra, has been appointed.
As per the AIIMS Madurai tweet, recently the first fresher's day - INICIO was organised with great zeal and in the most appropriate manner. The Chief Guest during the event was Director & CEO @mangalAiimsAP and the students did a fantastic performance and displayed their diverse talents.
AIIMS Madurai to Conduct Interviews for Faculties Recruitment
The interviews will be conduct for the recruitment of various faculty posts, including Professor, Additional Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor on a regular basis in various disciplines at The Tamil Nadu, Dr MGR Medical University, Guidy, Chennai on March 13, 2023, for the General Medicine Paediatrics department and on March 14, 2023 for General Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, from 7:30 am onwards.
According to an RTI request for information about the amount spent on the new AIIMS, a pitiful INR 12.35 crore was spent on the Central Hospital and the RTI response was that although INR 1977 crore was requested, only INR 12.35 crore, or less than 1%, was actually spent. The response also stated that AIIMS Madurai's development will be finished in October 2026.
