Dharmendra Pradhan to Inaugurate New Medical School at IIT Kanpur on July 16

New Delhi: Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the newly built Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital on Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur campus ground on July 16, 2022.

As per IIT Kanpur, the new medical school will offer the latest medical technologies and top facilities to participants, including 450+ beds at Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital and a total of 50 beds at the Centre for Cancer Care and Research.

In addition to this, the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital will also be facilitated with an Academic Block, residential blocks, and multiple centers of excellence (CoE) for R&D in futuristic medicine.

Referring to this initiative, Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, said, “We are extremely delighted that this ambitious project of establishing a Medical School on the IIT Kanpur campus has come to a stage where we are laying the Foundation Stone".

“Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital are envisaged to provide technological solutions to unmet medical needs, and the application of technology in health care delivery. We are looking forward to hosting the esteemed guests on campus" he added.

Adding to the statement, the institute has received a lot of support from JK Cements Limited, BM India Pvt Ltd, and REC Foundation in building the academic blocks and residential blocks for the resident doctors.

Professor Subramaniam Ganesh, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur added that this medical school aims to offer the best medical education facilities to its students on campus ground and help them in pursuing their careers in medical field.

“This Medical School will train and nurture next-generation medical professionals for the country with a paradigm shift in approach towards medical research and innovation in the country” he added.
