Delhi University Organised Centenary Run on Nov 18 to Mark 75 Years of Independence


New Delhi: Delhi University celebrated its 100th-anniversary run on November 18, 2022. The DU Centenary Run was held from 8:30 AM to honor the nation's 75th year of independence.

As per Delhi University, students, researchers, professors, non-teaching staff, and alumni from DU joined the race. A total of 50 participants from the people with disabilities category, for whom a customized run circuit was built were also present for the run.

The Fit India Movement, an initiative started by PM Narendra Modi, has sponsored the marathon. The inaugural function will be chaired by Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh and attended by students and university officials of affiliated colleges. 

Informing about the event, the officials said, "The Delhi University is organising a centenary run on November 18, 2022, under the slogan 'Run for DU' to commemorate 75 years of the nation's independence and 100 glorious years of its academic excellence". 

The DU Centenary Run run has been organised by Shri Prakash Singh, Director of the University South Delhi Campus, with support from the Athletics Federation of India. The event was held in the presence of Arjun Munda, the Union Cabinet Minister for Tribal Affairs, who attend the run as the chief guest.

Additionally, Vivek Thakur, the Head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education attended the run as the guest of honor. Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold medallist, lead off the race at the university sports facility.
