Delhi Teachers University Inks MoU with Birmingham University to Provide Global Exposure to Teachers

New Delhi: Delhi Teachers University and the University of Birmingham have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the development of curriculum, research and student exchange programs. 

The collaboration between Delhi Teachers University and Birmingham University was done in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of India, Manish Sisodia, Chancellor of Birmingham University, Karan Bilimoria and faculty members of both universities.

Speaking on this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister of India shared that this initiative would fundamentally change how education is delivered in this country. It will elevate the status of the teaching profession, making it more appealing to prospective candidates.

He added, “It is our firm belief that to become the best, we must constantly strive to learn from the best. I am certain that by collaborating with Birmingham University, we will be able to transform the education system and make teaching a prestigious, sought-after profession”.

“This step will serve as a chance for both institutions to learn and develop tremendously”, he further added. The collaboration includes opportunities for various cooperation including co-creating research projects for teachers and offering dual degree programs.

It will further aim to build education programs for teachers (mainly for BEd, special education, MEd special education, and certifications), interchange of students and academics as well as initiating research in various domains.

Adding to the statement, Lord Karan Bilimoria, Chancellor of the University of Birmingham shared that the university's vision aligns with the Delhi Teachers University. With this step, we aim to transform teacher education in both cities through research and exchange.

“Teaching is the cornerstone of quality education, and working with the Delhi Government on one of their flagship programmes for teacher education will help us both to expand our knowledge network”, he further added.
