CENTAC MBBS Admission 2020: Lt Governor Directs CENTAC to End Admission by December 31

CENTAC MBBS Admission 2020: Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi has directed the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) to complete the MBBS Admission 2020 process by the end of December 2020.

Kiran Bedi issued the directive related to Pondicherry MBBS Admission 2020-21 in a meeting that was held to discuss 50 % Government Quota and 10% horizontal reservation in the MBBS program offered at various Puducherry’s private medical colleges.

Pondicherry MBBS Admission 2020 Procedure Raise Concerns

Many concerns were raised that after declaring results of NEET 2020, CENTAC did not include information about 50% seat reservation policy by private colleges in its MBBS Brochure 2020.

Neither the information about 10% horizontal reservation for government schools students who have successfully passed 10+2 was added.

Additionally, on December 11, 2020, Madras High Court had issued an order on a writ petition stating that it was too late to change the rules of MBBS Admission after the selection process had begun for medical courses.

Moreover, the center has not yet approved the draft bill for 50% government quota of total MBBS seats in the private medical colleges under government quota, which was submitted by the Puducherry Government.

Pondicherry MBBS Admission 2020: Counselling Procedure

At the end of the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor issued directives to CENTAC officials to proceed with the MBBS Admission 2020-21 process without any further delay to finish it by December 31.

She said, “The time now available for completing the MBBS Admission Process was therefore limited.”

CENTAC will conduct three rounds of MBBS Counseling 2020 followed by mop-up counselling before completion of the admission process by December 31. However, the MBBS program fee will remain the same as the previous years.

Kiran Bedi also insisted that the proposal pending with the Centre on the draft Bill for 50% government seat quota along with the Cabinet’s proposal for 10% seat quota for government school students should be pursued by the administration.
