IBM and CBSE have joined hands to include Artificial Intelligence(AI) in CBSE’s high-school curriculum ( class 11 and 12) for the session 2020-21.
CBSE will include this curriculums a part of its Social Education through Work and Action(SEWA) programme. This programme will be introduced in about 200 schools across 13 states.
Delhi NCR, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra,MP, UP, Rajasthan and Punjab are the states where the IBM AI curriculum will be introduced for school students.
IBM AI curriculum is based on a structured framework for the students which consists of some basics, history, applications, skills, designs, critical thinking, data fluency and other skills related to the field.
It has been further vigorous with the program based learning outcomes and assessment methods for teachers building basic skills of the students. This will also increase the knowledge and awareness of the concept of AI, hence making more creators than just consumers.
In order to meet the requirements of CBSE regarding the grades 11-12, the curriculum had to be co-developed with Australia”s Macquarie University and Indian Implementation partners like Learning Links Foundation and 1M1B.
The main aim behind this collaboration was to help address some of those challenges by designing one of the most accessible and comprehensive gateways for the students to begin with their AI journey.
“The question on the minds of educators and economists alike is how will technology impact jobs moving forward and how can we prepare our students to succeed in an increasingly automated, AI-driven world”’ said Mr Sandip Oatel, General Manager for IBM India and South Asia.
