The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Datesheet 2021 has been released or Class 10 and 12 Term-I exams on 18th October 2021. The dates have been issued by the board on the official portal, cbse.nic.in. Additionally, sample papers and the marking scheme for term-I examinations are now available on the official website.
As per the schedule, first terms exams of CBSE Class 10 and 12 will be held in offline mode in the months of November and December. Class 10th exams will begin on November 30, 2021 and cotinue till December 11, 2021. As the exams have been split into Term-I and Term-II exams, exam patterns have also been revised from the regular annual ones.
In addition, CBSE Class 12 Board Exams is slated to be held from December 1-December 22, 2021.From the academic year 2021-22 onwards the exams will be carried out in 2 terms. The first term exams are to be conducted in November-December 2021 and the second term exams in March-April, 2022.
CBSE has issued exam dates for 7 subjects of Class 10 and 17 major subjects of Class 12. Timetables for minor subjects will be available from their respective schools. As the board offers a total of 75 subjects in Class 10 and 114 subjects in Class 12, the board needs to conduct exams for 189 subjects. If it conducts exams for all those subjects, entire exam season will run for 40-45 days. Hence the division as major and minor subjects; to avoid learning loss of students.
CBSE said in a statement that reads, “As the major subjects are offered by almost all the affiliated schools, the exams for these subjects will be conducted by fixing a date-sheet, as done earlier. Regarding the minor subjects, the CBSE will make groups of schools offering these subjects and thus, more than one paper would be conducted by the board in the schools on a day.”

CBSE Board Exam 2021: Term-I, Term-II Exam Pattern
CBSE has informed that Term I exams will be objective-type and exam duration will be of 90 minutes. Exams will commence from 11.30 am as Term-I is scheduled in the winter season. Term-I Question papers will include only Objective Type Questions. Practical exams and internal assessments will be after the conduct of Term 1 exams. The final results will be released based on the Term exam scores and internals.
The Term-II examination would be conducted in March-April, 2022 and whether it will be objective or subjective-type will depend on the COVID-19 situation in the country. Both Objective and Subjective type questions will be there in Term 2. The timing has been set up considering the winter month in which the exam is scheduled to take place.
Note: The details about the exam pattern and conduct will be informed to the school separately through e-mails.
As stated by CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, CBSE 10th, 12th results for Term-I exams will be released soon after the exams are over, in the form of the marks scored by a student. First Term exams will not categprise students as pass, compartment and essential repeat categories. However, final results will be declared based on both first and the second-term exams.
“Practical exams or internal assessment will be completed in schools before the first-term exams are over. The marks allotted will be 50% of the total marks and mentioned in the syllabus. The schools will be informed separately about the full scheme so that they can make the necessary preparations,” he further added.
