Calcutta University exam dates for final year BA and BSc examinations have clashed with several entrance tests in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), which are scheduled to be conducted on October 5, 7, and 8.
The issue of overlapping of dates has come as a setback for several Calcutta University of philosophy, history, economics, Sanskrit, mathematics, chemistry and those interested in studying foreign languages who want to pursue a Masters degree at JNU.

Further, the exam dates of West Bengal State University in Barasat are also clashing with the exam dates of JNU. Following this, a group of JNU aspirants approached the VCs of the two universities.
While discussing the issue, Sagnik Chatterjee, a final-year student of economics Honours and a resident of Behala said: “Students from Calcutta University have their final-year exams on October 5, 7 and 8 for environmental science between noon and 2 pm. But the dates are clashing with JNUEE and, given the timing of exams from 3 pm, we have to report an hour before. It is impossible to complete our CU tests at 2 pm and then reach the entrance test centres.”
Taking the current situation into account, he now plans to appear in the JNU entrance exam next year.
