Being a Faculty at IHRM, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As a faculty of the Hospital Management Department, my prime responsbility is to teach students as per current healthcare industry trends, as well as making them well acquainted regarding their course structure. 


How do you establish healthy relations with the students?

"I communicate with them on a regular basis for this"

I regularly interact with my students and try to address and resolve their academic and non-academic queries on time to ensure a smooth relationship with them. Apart from this, I encourage them to do their best, learn new skills and never forget to appreciate their achievements.


How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"By using case studies as an example while teaching students"

I ensure an industry driven and practical approach towards subjects by correlating the core healthcare papers with some real-life practices while teaching my students. Apart from this, identifying functions within the intra-departmental and interdepartmental areas of a hospital remains my objective so that I can give a holistic overview of ground situation to my students.


How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"It is regularly updated in accordance with changing industry needs and trends hence students remains updated"

The curriculum of our institute has been designed to prepare the base of students in hospital management domain and also for different aspects of healthcare sector. And as per changing industry rules and trends, we keep updating our courses and curriculum.

How does your college prepare students for higher education?

"By offering customised training programs and guidance sessions to them"

I firmly believe that working in a Healthcare sector is not an ordinary job but it's a noble profession and with changing technologies and lifestyle of people the need for an efficient hospital and non-clinical staff is on the rise. Therefore we offer customized training programs to students so that they can use that knowledge while pursuing their Masters and other higher education courses. And our training programs also helpful for those students who want to do a full time job after college because we teach them how to present oneself during interviews and perform well in corporate world.


How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

"By encouraging them to work on their weaknesses and believe in their existing skills"

For the purpose of preparing my students for this competitive world, whenever I teach them I try my best to relate the concept with real time scenarios so that they can learn about practical applications of each topic. Because the profession we are involved in require sincere dedication, focused attitude and best social skills to deal with the patients in hospitals. So my objective remains to educate about the best strategies they can use while working in real time scenarios.


Which extracurricular activities are organized by your college to enhance the skills of students?

We firmly believe in the fact that along with good theoretical knowledge it's equally important for students to have some unique skills so that they can stand out differently in this competitive world. And hence health care camps are regularly conducted by us and also we make sure students receive the best internships in good companies.


What challenges are you facing in uplifting the education quality of your college?

As industries nowadays look for competent professionals with expertise in communication skills and sound knowledge of their core subjects. But we have a diverse range of students in our college, some of whom lack good communication skills and also have less knowledge of their core subjects, so this sometimes creates a barrier between us and affects the quality of education which we want to offer them.


When you joined this college, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

When I joined this amazing college, my aim was to provide the finest quality and employment oriented education to students and improve the built-in educational practices of our college to make students industry ready on time.


How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

We design the curriculum of our college keeping in mind the latest developments, trends and requirements of both the industrial and educational world so that we stay compliant with the standards defined by them. And experts from both academic and corporate sectors are involved in its design and review process, so best practices are automatically added to the curriculum. Last but not the least, we offer best internship opportunities to students and also arrange industrial visits from time to time.


How does your department enhance the faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

Although all the faculty members of our college are highly qualified and extensively experienced, with changing technologies they need to upgrade their skills and knowledge so that they can deliver the best quality education to students. Hence our college regularly organizes Faculty Development Programs and customized training programs to train and upskill them.


What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"I motivate them to read more books and give presentations on the topics they are interested about"

For the purpose of educating students beyond hard-coded curriculum, I regularly motivate them to read more books so that they can gain extra knowledge of their core subjects as well as of the outside world. Apart from this, they give presentations on any healthcare related topics of their choice from time to time so that they can figure out in which areas they need to improve themselves and what are their strengths.

What measure does your college take to educate students in accordance with ever changing industrial demands?

"We offer internships to them in reputed organizations and regularly organize debates and quizzes"

We regularly encourage our students to explore the industries they want to work with by doing internships in them or working on their projects. In addition to this, we keep organizing quizzes on different healthcare topics, debates and presentations etc. in order to give them a platform to showcase their skills and remove their fear of public speaking. And we firmly believe that this approach will definitely enhance their knowledge and will prepare them for the hospitals in the best way possible.


Any valuable advice which you would like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

I would like to advise my students to have a command over their fundamental concepts and keep upgrading their knowledge on a regular basis. Also develop both hard and soft communication skills as along with theoretical knowledge, good communication skills are must to survive in this cut-throat competitive world.
