Sudakshin Shetty: “General (No reservation).”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Sudakshin Shetty: “MICA didn't have a GD. Unlike most B-school processes, MICA had a Group exercise session, wherein we are told to function as a group on a common topic. Group Exercise will require you to work cohesively with your group members to execute the task the panel gives you. The idea is to work with your group and not against it. This was a test to assess your team dynamics as well as your ideas. There were about 8 candidates with 2 people in the GE panel. We were in a room where there were multiple props like chart paper, scissors, costumes, etc to facilitate our GE. We were given about 30 minutes for the entire exercise, which involved discussing various roles, ideas, and the execution and the conclusion.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Sudakshin Shetty: “We were given the task to perform a skit for a CSR activity about drug use in children.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Sudakshin Shetty: “I came up with a short narrative for the skit and helped the team assign various roles for the characters that were to be played.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Sudakshin Shetty: “The PI panel consisted of 2 professors and 1 Alum. It was an offline interview that lasted roughly around 30 mins. It was a stressful interview wherein one panelist played the good cop and the other played the bad cop and the third panelist was somewhat neutral.”

Sudakshin Shetty: “1) Why MICA?

Ans: Told them that it's the mecca of marketing, talked about my interest in getting into advertising, and how it has the best curriculum in the country for advertising. I mentioned the various alums who went on to become the CEO of the top agencies in India.

2) Why Marketing/advertising?

Ans: I told them that I have always been a jack of all trades with multiple interests such as writing, music, and drawing, among other things, and how it has helped me be more creative. All skills that would make me a good fit for a field as broad as advertising.

3) My favorite TV character?

Ans: Naruto Uzumaki, the titular character of the show Naruto. I told them how the character’s journey has inspired me as a child and his self-belief and the single-minded focus to achieve his dreams despite difficult circumstances resonated with me.

4) Favorite Ad campaign?

Ans: Apple's "Think Different Campaign" by Chiat day, because it doesn't talk about the product but rather honor’s geniuses who changed the world. It had a beautifully written adscript and used the association of these geniuses to show that it's the creative person’s tool.

5) What are your dislikes?

Ans: I told them that I really disliked misinformation and fake news and the fact that propaganda spreads like wildfire, because of inadequate fact-checking, and certain people who love to create chaos by spreading misinformation."
