Dr. Anand Dhopte is the Director in the Excel interior Design Institute. He has completed his B.Arch from Amravati University in 1995. He has expertise in commercial showrooms for Honda Cars, furniture malls, high-end residential projects, Corporate projects for NHAI, etc. He is also an Empanelled Architect for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Bank of India (BOI). His working philosophy emphasizes an Eco friendly environment, and designing with Nature.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Interior design and the practical field connect me with the education sector”

One of the key factors connecting me with the education sector is interior design and the practical field. My motto is to follow the reverse spiral of education from practical to theory. It leads to students' growth from campus. 

What is your leadership philosophy?

“To bring the best from individuals and follow an inclusive leadership”

Leader is the one who shows path to others by standing at a point. His/her job is not to command among other members. My leadership philosophy is to bring the best from individuals in a team. Another one is to be a part of changing the system. We believe in inclusive leadership instead of the dictator one.

“Industry visits, expert sessions and training are available to students”

We target Interior Designers who are not job seekers but job givers for a long run. Students can attend expert sessions, Industry visits and actual running site visits. It made the field far more clear and accessible to the students. Facing real life site challenges is part of their curriculum. It helps us to turn problems into opportunities.

Our campus contains pupils from different economic backgrounds. We are fun filled but practically loaded with the 'Study Without Books’ concept. Our campus sponsors students for a two year course. We support bright students who are not able to afford the courses.

“Keep upgraded with professional standards and build a bright career for students”

My responsibility is to build a strong professional from the campus. I need to keep upgrading the campus along with professional standards. Hence, pupils can attain the best careers in the future. 

What do you think is the top priority of campus for the next 10 years?

“To build a more professional society and nurture awareness among pupils”

One of the priorities is to nurture awareness about practical education among students. We try to make efforts to build a more efficient design professionals’ society. These are our top priorities for the next 10 years.

We did not face any negative competition, cheating and politics on campus. Our campus builds team networks to support each other. Several projects improve students' knowledge and create a healthy environment on campus.

Any suggestions do you like to give for current youth and aspiring students?

“Learn through practical education and create a lasting career”

Recent generation is exposed to a shallow social media culture and a short lived knowledge band. Youth need to create a lasting career with greater gravity. They can learn through practical education. It ensures them to grow smoothly.
