IMBA Dehradun

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Upskilling and mentoring students”

I believe that my role is to be a beacon in this foggy weather that could be a career path. I am there to pass on my expertise and knowledge to students so that they can achieve all the success they want and deserve. My responsibility is to alert the students on the coming challenges and to prepare them to be operational employees and managers from day one.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Presenting real life studies and skills”

I plan to share my work experience in specific real cases and propose to my students with some case problems in the class. We also put the student in real work situations with hands-on training and workshops. With good theory followed by effective training, the students match the profile required by the industry. They are up to the task from day-one and find a job very quickly.

How do you strategize the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

“Assessing and evaluating with current trends”

We stay close to the market and shipping industry, and give a cutting-edge curriculum that ensures best development of our students. The curriculum is updated at least once a year, even more if anything new presents itself. We have to monitor the market and the media and react accordingly. The best practice in the real world is good and relevant hands-on training, but for this training to be effective, you need to secure the basics of theory first.

How do you help your student to cope up with the high competition outside?

“Creating awareness and courage to face the world”

Students ought to know and understand what is waiting for them, how brutal the competition could be, and the quality of work that will be expected from them. They need to learn to do that ‘extra mile’ with a fearless attitude. It has to become a habit, and then the competition will be approached with serenity. Any kind of sports, especially at a competition level, could be an advantage. It teaches you to look for the best in you, and prepares you to be confronted by other people. Any spiritual activity, personal development or reading is also welcome. It enables you to recharge yourself, to know yourself better and to be balanced.

What has been your vision for the Academy so far?

“Enabling students to learn and grow in this field”

My vision since the beginning is to empower the youth, especially women, and prepare them for a great career in the shipping industry. I really believe that education is a powerful tool that can change one’s life. We all are trying to achieve this vision by developing IMBA, enhancing its formation and reaching a world-wide audience. I aspire to make students aware of this industry, what it demands, the level of quality and what can be achieved in the same. The benchmark is international and students have to reach this international level.

How does the curriculum of IMBA ensure the best practice of the industry?

“By staying close to the real world”

Our curriculum, with hands-on training, and our affiliated trading and broking companies, enable us to stay alert, and to practice and test our knowledge every day. We offer large scale opportunities like seminars, internships and workshops with these companies that aid students with more practical learning and exposure.

How does IMBA enhance the skills of the faculty?

“Enabling them with a clear picture of industry”

IMBA employs talented and seasoned professionals, and to keep this high level of expertise, we stay close to the market, organise conferences and give a clear path to the faculty. We need the implication of a strong academic director to guide the faculty and ensure that they teach exactly what the industry expects from them.

What do you see as IMBA's greatest strengths?

“International exposure and expanding market influence”

We have thousands of potential students, not just in India, but other countries as well who dream to tap into this pool of students, via our partnerships.
