Shri K.R. Pandav Institute of Pharmacy

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“I like to set a good example and demonstrate the best way of working”

My style is to lead from the front and have my team understand how the work needs to be done. Whenever there are programs/webinars sponsored by AICTE and PCI for faculty members, I encourage them to attend and take away some points that could make them better instructors. To ensure that I am also learning the new industry practices, I myself attend those sessions

How is the curriculum of Shri K. R. Pandav Institute of Pharmacy ensure the best practice of industry?

“The curriculum set by PCI is strictly followed ensuring practical exposure”

A few years back, this was a challenging task because the curriculum wasn't clearly defined and students faced difficulties when trying to get a job. But now since the pharmacy council of India is the main body, it has synchronized the syllabus of all the pharmacy institutes in India. Hence the task of institutes is now mainly focussed on how to implement this curriculum in the best possible manner. Thus, I am confident to state that the academic curriculum will be on a par with any other pharmacy institute, and the curriculum will be designed for students' all-around development.

How is the institute dealing with the current Covid-19 Pandemic?

“The classes and exam were conducted online through Google Meet or Zoom”

We have been following the government guidelines strictly during the pandemic. We have conducted the classes as well as exams online using Google meet or Zoom platform. We have created groups on social media sites where students put their queries and get them resolved by the teacher. These times have been very difficult for the teachers as well as students.

What do you think your responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

“Assure them of the quality of our education, and hear out all of their concerns”

Principals are responsible for ensuring that students are getting a quality education at our institute. The concerns of students are taken seriously and addressed. In addition, I think students should be able to find good jobs to help themselves, their families, and contribute to the economic growth of the country.

What would you like people to know about your institute that they may not know?

“The course of B.Pharm is all set to be introduced in the college”

We currently have only a Diploma in pharmacy course, but now we will be adding the Bachelors of Pharmacy course as well. We have received the approval for it and will be starting the same from next year. I hope we get a similar response for that course and we also wish to focus on research-based activities for the future.

What are some of the biggest challenges for the higher education sector?

“An awareness regarding advantages of Pharma industry needs to be generated”

Right now, predicting challenges is difficult. We need to create awareness about pharmacy among students, parents, etc., in my opinion. The main focus of our programs will be to provide quality education while keeping an eye on the industry needs at the same time

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“The opportunities in this sector are numerous"

The only suggestion I have would be to know the pharmacy sector, there are a lot of opportunities. Make sure you put in the effort required for your personal growth if you join a pharmacy course. If you want to contribute to the nation's growth, you must also ensure you have a passion for making practical approaches, not just theory.
