A retired Major from the army and a postgraduate in Engineering, Major Pateshwari Singh is presently serving as the Principal at Maharana Pratap Polytechnic, Gorakhpur. With qualitative experience in teaching and administration, his career contour spans over 20 years with government aided colleges in Uttar Pradesh. He has a rich expertise in the entire gamut of college administration inclusive of curriculum planning, teacher training and development of managerial aspects of college education.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact, and if you are driven by the desire to help those around you, being a teacher is an invaluable contribution. Enhancing the quality of education and perspectives in related fields is a way forward. By becoming a teacher you’ll get job satisfaction that few will experience. Other than parents, teachers have arguably the biggest influence on a child’s life. 

How is your college more welcoming to the students of diverse backgrounds?

“Appreciation and building connection with different cultures”

We have a population of best students coming from all around UP as well outside UP. We value diversity in our admission process as we believe that students learn to understand and appreciate different cultures if they live among students of diverse backgrounds. Students also get to learn from different beliefs and perspectives which helps them in their personal growth. We offer several interactive activities to help students intermix and connect with each other.

We believe that the most important role for teachers is to coach and guide students through the learning process, giving special attention to nurturing a student’s interests and self-confidence. Our college’s prime focus is to provide the best quality education with minimum possible fees. We even have tied up with various committees for placement drives and internships to help students to get jobs and internships.
