He ensures that his students are receiving a holistic development and an experiential learning to be ready for the corporate world. Read here what he has to say in his interview.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Education open doors for many opportunities”

Education is most vital in enabling one to achieve the aims of life and cope with the competitive world. I find the education sector to be a work area where my teaching and research efforts aim to shape young people for a fruitful career. It gives me a sense of fulfillment.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I make sure my every action is towards the development of the institution”

Leadership is about ensuring the motivational participation of workers for the overall growth of the institution. I am a moderate leader who keeps in mind the strong and weak points of employees and finds a middle road to success. Principal’s job is to make and implement programs for college administration and academics. For this, we have IQAC and guidelines provided by the university and the UGC. Moreover, marketing is looked after by the administration.

What was your vision for the Institute? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“The institution has evolved over time”

At the time of my joining, the institute was inexperienced. Since then, there has been a gradual evolution in the functioning of the institute. I initiated the institute's research wing, and at present multiple projects funded by the government agencies are implemented in my laboratory. The institute has started new undergraduate and postgraduate courses like Microbiology, Mass communication, etc.

What would you like people to know about your Institute they may not know?

“We have a focussed approach towards education”

ASIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY is an affordable private college affiliated to Assam's Gauhati and Dibrugarh universities. The courses offered here are Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer application, Mass Communication, and Business Administration. Students from all states of Northeast India come here. The campus is situated in the heart of Guwahati, Assam, and is very clean. Students passing out from the college have found gainful employment both locally and outside.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for your Institute specifically?

“There is a shortage of quality skill based education and implementation of practical knowledge”

The present situation for higher education in India is faced with many challenges, including lack of financial support from the Govt., loss of interest among bright students for it, and a dearth of skilled academic staff. ASIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, being a private institute, has faced these challenges. Also, the present Covid19 pandemic has precipitated the academic environment worldwide, and therefore the plans will be governed by the outcome of a safe Covid19 free situation. Hopefully, it is an unprecedented situation and we will overcome and march forward to make our institute a frontrunner in imparting quality education from NE India.
