Prof. Dr. Manjul Mishra is the Dean, the School of Basic Life and Applied Science at Apex University, Jaipur. She has done M.Sc., B.Ed. and Ph.D. in Chemistry. She has a total experience of 22 years in Teaching, Research and Administration.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

"Management of students, faculty and staff members"

As a dean of the School of Life and Applied Science, my responsibility is to motivate and manage all staff members. Apart from this, I need to develop a positive and encouraging academic environment to enhance the knowledge and skills of our students.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By incorporating a positive and creative ambiance during classes"

I have adopted certain strategies to develop a cordial, trustworthy relationship with my students and fellow faculty. And the very first thing is that whenever I take classes, I try to keep the environment very good and positive because I know that students will only take interest in studies when they will be listened to properly and their queries would be resolved on time. Apart from this, incorporating a bit of creativity and humor while teaching attracts the students' focus definitely.

How do you enforce a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

"By conducting seminars, expert lectures and using case studies as examples while teaching"

I use the real-time case studies as examples while explaining any concept to our students. Because these studies help them to have a glimpse of industrial issues and methodologies followed over there. We also conduct seminars and webinars by industry experts that give insights and exposure of industry demands to our students. Lastly, lab experiments and value-added courses help me to supplement their existing knowledge. 

How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"We draft and update it as per our students' requirements"

The curriculum is strategically defined after considering our student's capabilities in order to deliver appropriate content to them. And it is updated on a regular basis after a rigorous analysis of current applications and approaches followed by the same.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?

"We offer 100% placement and higher education assistance to our students"

We give priority to placements and higher education in our institute. As a result, we have tried up with various organizations for the benefit of our students. Apart from that, we invest time in training our students in both technical and soft skills required by them to grab good jobs during the placement drive.

How do you prepare your students to cope with this competitive world?

"We offer them different kinds of online platforms to test their skills"

To make our students ready for this competitive world, we provide them with various online platforms like cocubes , elitmus , AMCAT in order to assess their performance and enable them to analyze their capabilities and work on their shortcomings. The scores secured by our students on such platforms help them to secure good jobs and get insights into the current requirements of every kind of industry.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"Fests, intra and inter-college competitions are organized for them"

We organize various types of fest and extracurricular in order to give exposure of the outside world to our students. Also inter and intra-college competitions help them to develop competitive spirits and level up with other candidates by building bonds and learning.

Any specific challenges which you faced to uplift the education quality of your department during Covid?

"Unavailability of practical sessions for students"

One of the major challenges which we faced is the lack of practical lab sessions during pandemics. Hence we have adopted methodologies like the inclusion of questionnaires and assignments in our curriculum to uplift the education quality of our department.
