Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kr Jha is the VC of Amity University Jharkhand. He takes us through his journey of his experience in the education domain where he explains how important it is to make development regularly. For the same, the institute takes measures to lay all the stress on balanced growth with full focus on theory and practice. Talking about his leadership style, he believes in a high sense of integrity and one who believes in the hidden potential of the team. He shares that he acts as a liaison among the management, the faculty and students. Emphasizing the importance of industry intervention, he mentions that they work closely with Industries to understand their requirements and skills and are able to show a clear path to the students. This helps the students to grow holistically and develop and nurture their skills. I have been in the Education sector for the last 30 years now, and it has been the best decision of my life. This profession is the best in terms of job satisfaction, service to the society, opportunity to impact positive changes, being aware of the latest in academics as well as industry. Keeping abreast with the new developments one remains close to the cutting-edge research and when the same is shared with the youth, it gives a sense of ever remaining youthful and energetic. 

The key factors which keep me connected with the Education sector are:

  • opportunities to handle all kinds of situations and take decisions to shape the future
  • Teaching & Education is the only means of changing and bringing in our lost laurels

  • Drawing parallel between aspirations & reality with potential and creating an environment for specific individual and group requirements is a challenge in itself.

My Philosophy has belief and full faith in a Transparency, Ethics and spirituality based wholesome leadership. A leader must have the highest sense of integrity and he has to be the one, who believes in the hidden potential of the team and aims at a bright future for all within the framework of rules and regulations. He has to be one the key part of everything by being involved at each step with all. Every step that he takes can build or break the bridge between members of the team. Unfortunately, we are in a leadership crisis situation, and that is obvious from various situations we are in now. Taking decisions therefore is becoming difficult because of constraints, personal biases and interpretations. All decisions impact all, and therefore taking the team together with confidence is a measure of index of righteousness of decision taken by the Leader. Satyameva Jayate “Righteousness wins” is what defines the path ahead.

Strategies for Key programs and related decisions are taken in steps

Initially we try to find the relevance of a particular program, local requirements along with employment opportunities It is then brought to the level of BOS for detailed curriculum making and is then finally approved by Academic Council and the Board of Management. Once it gets the stamp of the governing body, we go ahead to announce it and market it and go ahead with the admission process.

Our University namely Amity University Jharkhand has a very good mix of modernity with traditions. We lay all the stress on balanced growth with full focus on theory and practice as per our Industry 4.0 curriculum. Our close relationships with Industries and corporate houses are the gateways of all inputs in time through our Board of studies and through conferences, seminars and workshops. Our CRC work closely with Industries to understand their requirements and skills and are able to show a clear path to them to lead a happy and balanced life. Every semester an Internship program is offered to them for real Industry exposure. We work in association with CII, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM and other Industry leaders. The other edge that our students get is the credit courses on Communication skills, Behavioural Science and Psychology along with one Foreign language in all semesters of all courses at AUJ. We have our students engage in a variety of cultural, social and co-curricular activities including Sports to showcase their talents and compete with fellow beings. A spirit of cooperative Leadership is inbuilt in our system.

We work in association with CII, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM and other Industry leaders. All Industry leaders are invited to draw out best practices and live projects are being worked upon by our faculty, students from Engineering, Science, Law, Media and Business fronts. 

I act as a liaison among the management, the faculty and students

My role in the University is to achieve the set goals within the resources available to the maximum keeping all stakeholders viewpoints and the future of students and the University in mind. I guide everyone to contribute to the maximum in all areas of Academics, Innovation, Project, Lab work, Internship, Placement, Research & Development, Quality Control, Industry connect, Compliances, Planning and strategy, Examination, Results, Admission and Marketing, MoUs with Academia and Industry, Keeping good relationship with the Government and social bodies. I report to the HO on a regular basis about our plans and targets achieved and seek their cooperation. I am a bridge between the Management and the Faculty and students.

We are on the right path to change the Education scenario by introducing new programs in our curriculum

We have been recognized as the Best Private University by ASSOCHAM and 2nd Best Private University by Education world just in 4 years. Our University provided the Best Placement. We are on the right path to change the Education scenario. We have taken up local aspiration programs like Forestry and Wildlife and Mining from this year looking at the Jharkhand priorities. We hope to keep delivering what is expected out of us. Our faculty members have contributed to around 20 published books, 60 published articles, Two patents, 100 articles by students and many laurels at the national level in the sports and fashion world as well. 

I encourage faculty to organize trainings to impart valuable knowledge to the students

I am part of the whole workforce myself. I invest a lot of time in handholding and putting them on track for work, follow-up, taking feedback, and giving regular suggestions till the task is complete. I am in very close touch with all faculty and student representatives on phone, WhatsApp and other media. I regularly encourage them to organize much needed training, FDP, Seminars and webinars. I explain the rudimentary before giving the task and always take collective decisions to ensure success. I respect talent and give due regards to merit. Discipline is of foremost importance and that is inculcated through the induction program for each. Individual care is taken for all employees and students.
