Dr. N.S. Mahantshetty is a Principal at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Wardha. He has done MBBS and MD (Pediatrics) from Karnataka University, Dharwad and has done Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He has an experience of 39 years in working in the medical field.
What do you see as JNMC, Wardha's greatest strengths?
"Our biggest strength is our faculty who are experts in their respective fields"
We have a very strong command in the Women and Child help research and it is purely community-based research and we were doing it from the year 2000. Also, we have a strong Medical Education Department from Wardha District and the most experienced one as it started in 1980. We have the largest hospital here with 2000 beds available, under one roof we are treating poor as well as rich people with actual specialists available for treatments.
Being the Principal of JNMC, Wardha, what is your philosophy of leadership?
"I give every individual a chance to shine to give his or her best"
Teamwork is the most important for any Institute to grow, nature of working together and a policy of learning together and growing together.
What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?
"We have got a lot of international collaboration"
We are planning for a twinning program with foreign Institutes in upcoming years specifically with the United States, so that students from there can study with us and share their experiences. We are improving digital teaching methods also.

Any suggestions would you like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
"I just want to suggest, keep your eyes and mind open in every field"
I would advise students to observe things happening around you, try to find the solution and think of it. Never underestimate anyone in life, just try to find the best path to achieve goals in your life. And help people around you as much as you can.
What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?
"My role is to motivate the students and the faculty for the betterment of their future"
For the institute, my role is to develop the institute educationally and provide the best education qualities to the students with best medical practices. Shaping a vision of academic success for all students- for establishing a college-wide vision of commitment to high standards and the success of all students.
How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship in your institute?
"I try to be amicable with everyone in the college"
By strictly monitoring the education system and institute culture at the same time. By providing best practices to the students and training programs for the Teaching staff.
