Being the Principal of the VYSYA College, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"Ensure best education and amenities for students and supervising college activities is my responsibility"

As a Principal, my main responsibility is to provide quality education at an affordable cost to all the students, guide and support them and our faculty members along with staff as and when required for the overall growth of students, institute and everyone else. 


How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By addressing students queries on time and working as a team with fellow faculty"

For the purpose of establishing a cordial relationship with my students, we never discriminate between students and provide equal learning opportunities to them, treat them with parental care and also communicate with them after college hours to resolve their academic and non-academic issues and doubts. And when it comes to fellow faculty, all of us work as a team and help each other to create a healthy working environment. 


How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"By organizing professional visits and teaching them using ICT tools"

We teach our students by using the Information and Communication Technology facilities so that they can visualize and understand the concept in a clear and better way. And we have signed MOUs with leading industries to inculcate industry oriented skills in students through events, programs and industrial visits.


Which best practices are offered by your department to students to help them gain necessary skills?

"They are trained for real world through skill development programs and guest sessions"

As already mentioned, we offer Skill Development Programs to enhance the soft skill, aptitude skills and communication skills of students. In addition to this, value based courses on latest technologies like DMLT, Python and classes on Photoshop, Yoga and Tally are conducted by us. Last but not the least, we motivate students by showing motivational videos and information of famous personalities through a public addressing system.


How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"We follow the curriculum designed by University which is developed after consulting with experts"

We follow the curriculum designed by the Periyar University, Salem to which we are affiliated to. The University designed the curriculum after consulting with members of the Board of Studies. Also during the meetings with University people, we put forward our suggestions and inputs to include courses as per industry standards and demands. And after receiving the curriculum, all the Department Heads of our college prepare an academic year plans and schemes and issue the same to the students so that everyone remains on the same page while faculty deliver lectures.

How do you prepare your students to cope up with the outside competitive world?

"We offer them value based courses, certification programs and organize seminars and conferences"

For the purpose of educating our students beyond books and curriculum, we offer value based and certification courses along with placement training and career development programs to them and also organize classes to enhance their soft and communication skills. Also, we encourage them to enroll in Swayam courses for advanced learning. Lastly, we motivate them to participate in events like paper presentations, intercollegiate meets, seminars, conferences and workshops to help them develop creativity and innovation skills. 


Which extracurricular activities are organized in your college to enhance the skills of students?

"Cultural activities, sports events and social activities are regularly conducted by us"

We firmly understand the fact that co-curricular activities are very important for the complete growth and development of students. Hence we have established 3 units of NSS including 2 Units of boys and 1 Unit of girls along with YRC, RRC, Consumer and Rotaract Club to motivate our students to learn the skills like time management, punctuality and discipline. These clubs also arrange various cultural and sports activities and provide a platform to students to showcase their talents and skills. Students who join these clubs serve the public to learn social skills and prepare themselves for the real world challenges. 


What challenges are you facing to uplift the education quality of your college?

"Lack of communication skills and creative learning attitude in students is a big challenge"

There are multiple challenges which we are facing at different levels to upgrade the education quality of our college. The majority of our students are from rural backgrounds so they find it very difficult to understand and communicate in English. Also from the time mobile use has increased, they rarely use libraries to study and lack of writing skills, time management and creativity among students makes the whole teaching-learning process much more complicated. 


When you joined this college, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

"My aim was to ingrain best education and moral values in students"

When I joined this college, my vision was to inculcate best technical skills and ethical values in students. And to make this vision true, we are using motivational videos, moral stories and leading entrepreneurship journeys of people to teach our students. Also, we are using a simple and bilingual method of teaching without diverting them from studies. We are always available to clarify students and try our best to make them a good citizen.


How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

"It is backed by the extra activities including seminars, apprenticeship and psychological training"

The curriculum of our college is updated on a regular basis after analysis of industrial development and requirements and taking suggestions from experts and academicians. And to educate our students and develop the creative learning attitude in them, in addition to regular syllabus, we organize psychological training, internships and seminars etc. 


How does your college enhance the faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"They are trained and upskilled through FDPs, Swayam Certification courses and workshops"

We regularly organize Faculty Development Programs to upskill our faculty members and motivate them to enroll in SWAYAM certification courses. They are also sent to Periyar university to attend events like seminars, conferences and workshops by the experts. Apart from this, more experienced faculty of our institute help their juniors in paper presentation, seminars, books and paper publications. 


What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"We teach them using rigorous training programs and animation videos"

We offer rigorous training programs to our students for their overall personality development, to make them more confident, to help them prepare their resumes and lastly to enhance their interview skills. In addition to this, we teach our students using Animation Videos to help them understand the concept clearly and improve their practical learning experience.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

"Our college infrastructure, laboratories, wonderful location are the sources of our strength"

Our college campus is surrounded with a lush green atmosphere which makes the working-learning ambiance refreshing and energetic for our students and faculties. Also, we have established a wonderful and modernized infrastructure and labs in our college. So I firmly believe that these things make our college strong and resilient. And we are planning to concentrate more on enhancing the research facilities in our institute.


Any valuable advice which you would like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

"Respect others and never abuse your profession and position"

I would suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to respect every human being, elder or younger. Also support and help the people of society using your knowledge, skills and experience as much as you can and never misuse your position.
