Being the HOD & IQAC Coordinator, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“Teamwork and Participative leadership to carry the potential of the best decision making”

Leadership should be inclusive and collaborative for “bridging the gap” among various internal and external stakeholders. As a leader, it is my philosophy to be a part of a team that includes teachers inclusive of seniors and juniors, non-teaching staff, and student representatives who work as a team, as per the decision of the Governing Body of the college. During the selection of any team leader for any assignment, potential to be chosen over any other criteria. Feedback to be taken from Parents, Students, and alumni, and grievances, if any to be addressed.

Being the HOD & IQAC Coordinator, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your institution?

“Planning and structuring of the administrative work with proper implementation team for the same”

We have an Inclusive and collaborative administration. There is an active and constructive role of the Teachers’ Council, Nonteaching Council, Students Union, Alumni Association, and other stakeholders in administration. Time-bound result oriented targets to be set and attained. We provide several incentives for better performing faculty and students. We associate with companies for providing Job oriented training/entrepreneurship programs for students. Display course content and course outcomes on the college website. Faculty members act as resource persons/speakers/ in seminars and symposiums at the national and international level which also helps to advertise for the college. Introduction and implementation of short-term entrepreneurship programs by each department is also an important strategy we use.

How does the curriculum of your College ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Collaboration with firms for activity-based learning and personality development of the students”

When you first came to Asutosh College, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“Vision to get stronger for the betterment of students as well as the reputation of the college”

When I first came to this college I had little knowledge but huge respect for the nearly 100-year college. In my nearly 20 years of teaching in this college, the teaching-learning evaluation system has changed drastically from a talk and talk in 1999 to a nearly complete online mode, today. But the vision of the teaching-learning needs to be updated further. The system on one hand needs to make educated, logical, open-minded unbiased individuals who can ask logical questions and come to unbiased conclusions. At the same time, the education system needs to impart knowledge that can be explored to earn a living, job oriented training rather than just bookish information is needed at this hour.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Asutosh College specifically?

“Establishment of settled placement and training cell for the students”

The lack of job-oriented education can give income to the students in the VUCA world. There is still no well-planned assessment system for the teachers. Some sort of feedback/assessment along with incentives or action is very much needed.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Hold passion and exploit your potential to the fullest for moving towards success”

Exploit the potential to the fullest. Unless a student gets involved with the subject he/she can never excel, so either get involved with the subject you are studying or study something you want to get involved with. Make small targets set small goals and try to reach the same before aiming higher. Don’t compete with others, compete only with yourself to be better informed tomorrow than you are today.
