Dr. Archana Chougule is presently working as Head of Department, Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sanjay Ghodawat University, Kolhapur. Having 15 years of experience in teaching, she is a life member of Computer Society of India. With research interests in Artificial Intelligence, Ontology Management and Natural Language Processing, Dr. Archana has published 18 research papers in various International conferences and journals.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Leading with knowledge and transparency”

A leader must lead using his experience and knowledge of the related field. A leader must have knowledge to put the right things at the right task with the right people. He/She must be transparent in their approach and flexible in their methods to give and achieve maximum benefits. 

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

We aspire to become remarkable for quality education and professional pedagogy at national as well as international levels. We are imbibing best practices in our structure and management to enhance the research oriented learning practices and build an empire for our students. We want to prepare our students for the modern world of technology and research. 

What are your views on the New Education policy?

“A Revolutionary change for improvement in education quality”

A change was much awaited for so long in the education sector of India. The New Education Policy is the initial pull to reformed education with high quality teaching methodologies and more value based learning mechanisms. I think it will provide more flexibility in teaching and learning pedagogy among staff and students.

What do you think are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Improving the learning environment for best results”

Active involvement of students is necessary to make them learn and grow. I constantly try to modify teaching methods, exam patterns and enhance critical thinking among students to help them improve their caliber and skills. Students need continuous encouragement and guidance with a strong working classroom culture.

How do you enhance the skills of the students for the real world challenges?

“Best industry practices and collaborations”

We follow innovative practices where we emphasize on practical based learning and keep our curriculum up to date with industrial alignment and foreign university collaborations for training and student exchange programs. Trending technological studies and industry practices are followed to carry out projects and student mentorship programs.

Students and youths today need to know the vast meaning of education. It's not just getting a good job or professional career, it's about admiring your way of successful life with all your dreams aligned with reality. One must learn to learn, not just follow what every other person has done or achieved.
