Dr. K V N Sunitha has been working as a Founder Principal at BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women, Hyderabad since August 2012. She has 29 years of teaching experience and is a guide to all her students. She authored 5 textbooks, published more than 150 papers. With her experience in teaching and knowledge acquired, she leaves no responsibility unattended as the Principal of her institute.

What are the key factors that helped you to hold the crucial positions in the Education Sector?

“The eagerness to adopt new learning with the implementation of all the ideas”

The zeal I have within me to keep learning, implement new ideas, executing innovative thoughts keeps me connected with the education sector. The idea of always matching up with the pace of technology advancement and World business strategy has motivated me to give my best to each opportunity. I strive to bring change and keep up with the pace of technology especially now when we are working in a techno-dynamic environment. 


What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“A blend of transformational and participative leadership from the faculty members”

I believe in participative leadership by communicating clear goals and collaboratively going ahead with the task at hand. The philosophy of my leadership requires transformational and democratic ways to bring in better ideas and a lot of ways for a singular task. Therefore, a blended approach helps in directing my team to work efficiently. 


How plan for the marketing and administration of your school?

“The enrichment of the college with achievable goals and objectives for each profile”

The activities and our hard work speak for itself. We believe in working enthusiastically with the teams made for a certain work profile to reach all the objectives and aims for our institute. We do not believe in publicizing our work commercially; whatever is done is through word of mouth of our stakeholders-students and parents. The strategy remains to provide our students with the quality of education and every essential facility.


What are your thoughts about the existing education system in your institution?

“A step towards international recognition by collaborating to various International certifications”

The management of our college is proactive in bringing the best practices for our students. We always look outwards beyond the curriculum approach. We have been recognized for our best practices by AICTE. The “Women in Software Engineering – WISE” works as a parallel curriculum in our institute. We have the International Certification by Cambridge-Business English, Toastmasters International Club, Trinity College of London Guitar classes for certification, and foreign languages like German and French certifications. We encourage students to participate in sports, arts, global competitions like Hackathons and Google Summer of Code (GSoC). We believe in the holistic development of students by developing leadership qualities, communication skills, outreach, and providing technical solutions for society. 


How does your curriculum ensure the best practices of the industry?

“The initiative to various technical learning courses and certifications for the learning of students”

  • We cater to the latest industry needs by running several additional as UMASS, Lowell, USA, and IoT Maker Space lab in collaboration with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) and Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) was established.
  • With our initiative of “Technology to Society,” we are providing technological solutions to societal needs through applications, prototypes, or products to the needy.
  • The providence of the Mentorship opportunities with MNC Giants like Microsoft, Flipkart, Amazon, and Qualcomm.
  • We also contribute to society in terms of both monetary and non-monetary services through NSS Wing-BVRITH for people and outside of NSS also.

How is your college welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“The college supports anti-racism and has no discrimination in anyways”

The only criterion in our college is merit-based. This promotes no kind of reservations or discrimination among the students. Also, financial support is rendered to students who are from an economically weak background by fee concessions. In this pandemic time of online classes, our management has distributed smartphones, tablets, and dongles to students in the villages, so that our students can learn unhampered.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

“The position of a Principal comes with perpetual roles and responsibilities”

My role and responsibilities include the proper management of the institute. I am responsible to be available as a guide, a teacher, a mentor to all my students from the college. My role also includes the hearing of the faculty members for all they require for quality education. To create a meaningful association between the technical education system and research and development activities in a concerted effort aimed at nation-building.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“The sustainable growth and enhancement as a technological University in the State”

The top priority is sustainable development and achieving higher growth rates enabled through the creation, transmission, and dissemination of the latest technology and knowledge. It would foster a technical education system that is on par with the best institutions in the world. Have a planned and coordinated development of Technical Education in the country by ensuring world-class standards of institutions through accreditation and facilitating world-class Technical Education and research facilities.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

“The achievements coming our way with each improvement made successfully”

  • The college has doubled its intakes from 240 to 480 in just 8 years of establishment.
  • The courses provided are accredited after the complete inception of 6 years.
  • This is the only Engineering College in the state of Telangana recognized by AICTE for the Best Practices.
  • It is recognized by the “IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award” for academic excellence at the national level.
  • BVRITH actively promotes innovation in teaching-learning among faculty and student fraternity through the Vishnu Educational Development and Innovation Centre (VEDIC).

How has your vision evolved over time?

“Evolution and augmentation has never stopped in the 8 years of the college”

I came with the same vision that JNTUH has but over the years it has evolved as we go beyond the curriculum to achieve academic excellence through innovative learning practices enhancing the intellectual ability and technical competence for the future. We encourage research and innovation and nurture our students towards holistic development with an emphasis on leadership skills, life skills, and human values.
