Dr A Peniel Paul is a Principal of the Brilliant Grammar School Educational Society's Group of Institutions, Hyderabad. He has done Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, M.Tech with CAD/CAM in Mechanical Engineering, and MBA in HRM. He holds a total of 32 years of experience which includes 17 yrs. in engineering colleges, 5 yrs. in the polytechnic field and 10 yrs. of industry experience. He has published 8 papers and attended several international conferences. He has co-authored a few books and 3 patents in his name. He has been awarded the “Principal Excellence Award” in 2021. His interests include Teaching, Travelling, Playing Volleyball, Gardening, and Listening to Rock music.

Today, there is a severe need to improve the quality of engineering education in India and equip future engineers to overcome the challenges in the new millennium, revive its lost glory, and progressively build future innovators of tomorrow. The five ways through which engineering can bridge the existing gap between industry requirement and academic proficiency is through a well-trained, disciplined workforce that is in sync with the ever changing demand of the corporate world. 

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

“Performance expectations, assessment standardization, measurement criteria and more are some challenges faced by us”

Few challenges faced by us include achieving excellence, Large class size, Infrastructure for learning, Assessment standardization, Broad recognition and understanding, Expanding competency-based programs for faculty development, Identifying the competencies needed based on the specific job profiles and Performance expectations. Measurement criteria in different relevant domains including communication and analytical skills to design the learning experiences is also a toughest task for us. 

What are the types of projects that students are working on through this program?

“Design models, powerpoint presentations and posters are working by students nowadays”

Students enhance their skills by creating posters and designing a model. We make a timeline for each process done by students. They are also making powerpoint presentations, writing and performing a skit. We make a crossword puzzle/ word search for students.
